Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik responds to spot-fixing and match fixing allegations. The cricketer was accused of match-fixing after abruptly leaving the Bangladesh Premier League.
Speculations were rife in Bangladeshi media that the BPL team Fortune Barishal terminated Malik’s contract over suspicions of match-fixing. In the last match in BPL, Malik had only bowled an over in that match and conceded 18 runs in the over. Surprisingly Malik delivered three no balls in the same over with a six and three boundaries.

Soon after the match, the team announced his unavailability in the upcoming matches. As per media reports, Shoaib Malik left Bangladesh for Dubai for some personal commitments.
The team also denied the news that his contract was terminated due to spot-fixing. Releasing his statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, Shoaib Malik denied spot-fixing allegations.
“I would like to address and dismiss the recent rumors circulating about my playing position with Fortune Barishal. I had a thorough discussion with our captain, Tamim Iqbal, and we mutually planned the way forward. I had to leave Bangladesh for a pre-committed media engagement in Dubai,” said Shoaib Malik.

“I extend my best wishes to Fortune Barishal for their upcoming matches, and if needed, I am available to support them if need be. I have always found joy in playing the game and will continue to do so. I want to emphasize the importance of exercising caution when it comes to rumors, especially those circulating recently.”
