Shoaib, Sania blessed with a baby boy

The sports couple Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza are blessed with a baby boy. In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Shoaib Malik took to Twitter and informed about the arrival of their first child. The former skipper in his tweet informed that Sania Mirza is doing fine and the baby is born healthy.

“Excited to announce: Its a boy, and my girl is doing great and keeping strong as usual #Alhumdulilah,” he said.

The couple is married for eight years. As stated earlier by the couple, the baby will not have a Pakistani or Indian nationality and will have a surname of Mirza- Malik but the couple is yet to announce the name of the baby. The couple first announced their pregnancy in April. Due to her pregnancy, Sania Mirza took a break from Tennis but hopes to return to the field at the beginning of the next year.

Speaking earlier at the Goa Fest, Sania Mirza stated that “I will tell you a secret. My husband and I have spoken about it and we have decided that whenever we have a child, the child will have Mirza-Malik as a surname and not just Malik. So that’s where we stand as a family. He actually wants a daughter.”

“I have not changed my surname (post marriage). My name is still Sania Mirza and it will remain that way. The family name is going to go forward,” she said.

The couple’s friends and family members felicitated the couple while fans from both sides of the border extended warm wishes for the baby.

Sania Mirza’s sister Anam Mirza shared the news of becoming ‘Khala’ on her Instagram account. Indian celebrities including Farah Khan expressed pleasure over the arrival of a new family member in Mirza-Malik clan.

Also, Pakistani cricketers including Shahid Afridi, Sohail Tanveer, Mohammad Amir, Shaniera Akram-wife of Wasim Akram and actress Mawra Hocane congratulated the couple.
