The Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) has served a notice to renowned musician Salman Ahmad over cybercrime. Salman Ahmad revealed the news on Twitter, also alleging that Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah’s workers are threatening him.
Salman Ahmad said he received a notice from FIA over some cybercrime issue. He had released a video statement lamenting that there is no democracy in Pakistan, only fascism.
“After attacking writers, women, children, and journalists, Rana Sanaullah and his cowards are trying to muzzle my free speech with threats,” Salman Ahmad said.

He said workers of Rana Sanaullah have been harassing him for the last two weeks as unknown cars are moving around his residence and unknown men are asking about him.
“It feels likes there is no democracy in Pakistan but rather fascism,” he added.

Moreover, Salman Ahmad said if his family, including his wife, children, and other members are threatened then he will hold Rana Sanaullah, Hamza Shehbaz, Shehbaz Sharif, and Maryam Sharif responsible.
He also said that journalists, women, youth, or artists who had sung songs such as Dil Dil Pakistan and Jazba Junoon were not safe in Pakistan today.
“If we don’t reject this ‘imported’ government with unity, and if we don’t vote against them then they will make our lives even more miserable,” he concluded.

Important to note that Salman Ahmad has also been appointed as former prime minister Imran Khan’s focal person on culture. Like a majority of the public, he has also been very critical of the incumbent.
Govt crackdown
The federal government on Friday decided to launch a crackdown on those who harass and degrade citizens on social media. According to details, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, in which the Federal Secretary Home, the Punjab IG Police, DG FIA, Acting Chairman NADRA Khalid Latif, and other officials participated.
The meeting reviewed issues of harassment of citizens on social media, uploading of immoral videos, and also issues related to blackmail and harassment of citizens.
The meeting, chaired by Rana Sana, decided to launch a crackdown on those who promote immoral content on social media, harass citizens and tarnish their image through immorality. It was further decided to make effective laws on cyber-crime, especially harassment and also uploading, and advertising of immoral content.
