2025 Acura RDX Gets Refreshed Look and Tech Upgrades, Maintains Competitive Pricing

Acura has unveiled the 2025 RDX, the latest iteration of the third-generation SUV. While many were anticipating a substantial makeover or even an entirely new generation, the 2025 RDX instead receives a refresh, building upon the facelift it received for the 2022 model year.

One of the notable changes is the new “frameless” grille, which brings the RDX in line with Acura’s latest family design. Additionally, there are new wheel options, including 19-inch Berlina Black-painted rims as the standard option. The Advance Package trims feature new body-color lower exterior trim and exclusive 19-inch, multi-spoke, machined-finish wheels. The A-Spec grade, positioned below the Advance Package trims, comes with its own special set of 20-inch wheels. Moreover, Acura has expanded the color palette with three new shades: Canyon River Blue Metallic, Solar Silver Metallic, and Urban Gray Pearl.

Inside the cabin, Acura has decided to retain the True Touchpad infotainment system, despite introducing a more traditional touchscreen setup in the 2025 MDX. However, the 10.2-inch display screen has been improved to support a wide-screen mode for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This enhancement allows for a better app display experience. Acura has also made updates to the tunnel area, providing larger cupholders and an improved wireless phone charger. Additionally, the Advance Package cars now boast full-leather upholstery, ambient lighting, and backlit door speakers, elevating the luxurious feel of the interior.

In terms of pricing, the 2025 RDX starts at $46,050 (after the $1,350 destination charge). There are various trim levels available, each with its own price point. Despite the price increases from the previous model year, the RDX remains more affordable than its competitors such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, and Genesis GV70.

Powering the 2025 RDX is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and features Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) as standard.

While this update is a relatively minor refresh, it is worth noting that Acura typically introduces a new model after six years. Therefore, it is reasonable to expect an all-new RDX model in the near future. Despite experiencing a dip in sales in the U.S. in 2022, the RDX rebounded last year. However, it has yet to reach the sales heights of the previous generations, which consistently achieved figures in the 50,000s and 60,000s from 2015 to 2021.

Overall, the 2025 Acura RDX offers subtle yet effective updates, enhancing its design, technology, and luxury features. With its competitive pricing and well-rounded performance, it remains a strong contender in the luxury SUV segment.
