2025 Hyundai Kona: New Trims, Features, and Prices Revealed for Gas and Electric Models

Hyundai has made some small but significant changes to the 2025 versions of its gas-powered and battery-powered Kona models. Let’s dive into the details.

Gas Model Updates:

The gas-powered Kona now offers two new trims. Previously, customers had to order the SEL with the $2,200 convenience package, but now there is an SEL w/ Convenience Package available, similar to other Hyundai models. Additionally, there’s a new N Line S grade that sits below the N Line trim. This new grade offers similar features to the SEL but with N Line cosmetic appeal and without some of the Convenience Package features.

The N Line S grade includes the 12.3-inch digital cluster from the Convenience Package but does not come with radar-based smart cruise control or a Wi-Fi hotspot. Buyers who want a power moonroof and the eight-speaker Bose audio will need to opt for the full-fat Kona N Line. Another notable update is that the N Line S and N Line trims now come with 64-color ambient lighting, a feature previously exclusive to the top Limited trim.

Performance-wise, the SE and SEL trims are equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT. The N Line, N Line S, and Limited trims feature a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 190 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission. All trims come standard with front-wheel drive, and adding all-wheel drive costs an additional $1,500.

The prices for the gas-powered 2025 Kona models, including the destination charge, are as follows:

– SE: $25,745 ($310 increase from 2024)
– SEL: $27,095 ($310 increase from 2024)
– SEL Convenience: $29,295 (new trim)
– N Line S: $30,745 (new trim)
– N Line: $32,295 ($310 increase from 2024)
– Limited: $33,295 ($310 increase from 2024)

Battery-Powered Model Updates:

The 2025 Kona Electric also receives updates, including the introduction of an N Line trim. This trim features black mirror caps, black window surrounds, sharper bumpers both front and rear, and black 19-inch wheels. Inside the cabin, the N Line trim offers sport seats in faux leather and suede, metal pedals, and dark chrome and red trim pieces.

Similar to the gas model, the Limited trim now shares more features with the rest of the lineup. The N Line trim has also added 64-color ambient lighting, while the N Line and SEL trims now come with LED interior lighting. Additionally, all trims now have the convenience of vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, allowing the electric Kona to share its battery power with a home when needed.

The prices for the 2025 Kona Electric models, including the destination charge, are as follows:

– SE: $34,270 ($160 increase from 2024)
– SEL: $38,270 ($160 increase from 2024)
– N Line: $39,670 (new trim)
– Limited: $42,445 ($65 increase from 2024)

In terms of powertrains, there are still two options for the electric range. The entry-level SE trim is equipped with a 48.6-kWh pack that powers a front axle motor producing 133 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque, offering up to 200 miles of range. The other grades come with a 64.8-kWh pack that powers a front axle motor producing 201 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque. On the 17-inch wheels fitted to the SEL and Limited trims, the estimated range is 261 miles. However, on the N Line’s 19-inch wheels, the range decreases slightly to 230 miles.

Overall, Hyundai has made thoughtful updates to the 2025 versions of the Kona, offering customers more options in terms of trims and features. Whether it’s the gas-powered or the battery-powered model, buyers can expect a range of choices to suit their preferences and needs.
