AC Cars Unveils New Cobra GT Coupé

AC Cars, based in Donington, has recently revealed a new coupé version of the iconic Cobra. This new model combines modern technology and production techniques with the classic silhouette that made the Cobra famous. The design of the car draws inspiration from the AC 298 coupé that competed in the 1964 Le Mans 24 Hours race. In particular, it takes cues from the car’s raked Kamm tail. This design feature gained attention when the AC 298 hit a top speed of 180mph during testing on the M1 motorway, leading to a media frenzy and the popular myth that it resulted in the introduction of the national speed limit.

Powerful Performance and Lightweight Construction

The range-topping version of the new Cobra GT Coupé, known as the Clubsport Edition, will be equipped with a supercharged V8 engine that produces an impressive 799bhp. AC Cars has not yet confirmed the weight of the special edition run of 99 cars, but they have stated that they are aiming for a weight of less than 1450kg. The car’s weight distribution is also noteworthy, as it is balanced 50:50 over the front and rear axles.

In addition to the Clubsport Edition, the Cobra GT Coupé will be offered with two other engine options. There will be a 720bhp version of the supercharged V8, as well as a naturally aspirated option with 450bhp. All versions of the car will be built on the same aluminium chassis as the AC Cobra GT roadster, with carbon fibre bodywork.

Order Now and Delivery in 2025

Interested buyers can now place their orders for the new Cobra GT Coupé. Prices start at £325,000 (excluding VAT). The first deliveries of the Clubsport Edition are expected to take place in late 2025, with regular versions following thereafter. All cars will be built in the UK.
