AC Cars, the British automaker renowned for its connection to the legendary Shelby Cobra, has recently unveiled renderings and specifications for an exciting new addition to their lineup – the AC Cobra GT Coupe. This model stands out for its hardtop design, reminiscent of the classic Cobra Daytona Coupe while maintaining the beloved bug-eye appearance of the Roadster.
As the self-proclaimed oldest active vehicle manufacturer in Britain, AC Cars aims to make a statement with the debut of the Cobra GT Coupe Clubsport Edition in late 2025. This exclusive edition will be equipped with a mighty 799-horsepower V8 engine. Drawing similarities from the Cobra Roadster introduced in 2023, this V8 engine is likely to be based on Ford’s acclaimed 5.0-liter engine and feature a prominent supercharger. Limited to just 99 units, the Clubsport Edition will be followed by subsequent models powered by either a 450-hp naturally aspirated engine or a high-performance 720-hp supercharged variant.
With an aluminum chassis and carbon fiber bodywork, the Cobra GT Coupe is designed to be lightweight, tipping the scales at around 3,200 pounds. Such engineering prowess suggests that impressive performance figures can be expected from this British thoroughbred.
Interestingly, this new GT Coupe draws inspiration from a previously crafted AC Cars creation, the one-of-a-kind A98 Coupe. Unfortunately, the A98 Coupe was involved in a tragic accident during a race but its design legacy lives on in the GT Coupe. Notably, the distinctive Kammtail rear end is a shared feature between these two models, infusing the GT Coupe with a sense of heritage and timeless design.
