Amazon Web Services (AWS) introduces the Mistral Large model to their Amazon Bedrock platform

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced a new model, Mistral Large, to their Amazon Bedrock platform, expanding their offerings for generative AI and application development. Mistral Large is a cutting-edge text generation model designed for complex multilingual reasoning tasks. It is capable of text understanding, transformation, and code generation. The model is highly ranked and accessible through an API. It supports multiple languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, and Italian, and features precise instruction-following and function calling capabilities.

Vasi Philomin, vice president of generative AI at AWS, explained that by integrating Mistral AI models into Amazon Bedrock, customers will have access to advanced generative AI technologies along with enterprise-grade tooling and features in a secure and private environment. This move aligns with AWS’s mission to make frontier AI widely available and collaborate with leading cloud providers.

Mistral AI chief executive Arthur Mensch expressed excitement about strengthening their relationship with AWS and the opportunity to provide tailor-made AI to builders worldwide. Mistral AI will also utilize Amazon’s Tranium and Inferentia silicon chips to develop and deploy future foundational models.

In addition to the introduction of Mistral Large, AWS announced that Mistral models are now available in the US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), and EU-West-3 (Paris) regions. This expansion allows developers in these regions to access all supported LLMs and foundational models. Furthermore, Amazon Bedrock is now accessible in France, ensuring that developers in the country can utilize the platform while keeping their data secure within French borders.

To further explore the impact of generative AI on the security workforce, AWS is hosting the AI Impact Tour in Atlanta on April 10th. In partnership with Microsoft, this invite-only event will discuss the vision, benefits, and use cases of AI in security teams. The tour aims to shed light on how generative AI is transforming the security landscape and drive conversations among industry professionals. Interested individuals are encouraged to request an invite as space is limited.

Overall, AWS’s integration of Mistral Large into Amazon Bedrock, along with their expansion of Mistral models and partnership with Microsoft for the AI Impact Tour, demonstrates their commitment to advancing generative AI technologies and supporting developers in their AI endeavors. With secure and powerful tools, builders around the world can leverage these offerings to create innovative AI applications.
