Apple Intelligence Coming to iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro Models: Everything You Need to Know

Apple Intelligence: Not Limited to iPhone 16

Many tech enthusiasts are curious about whether Apple Intelligence, the new suite of AI tools unveiled at WWDC 2024, will only be available on the upcoming iPhone 16. The answer is no. While Apple Intelligence will indeed be featured on the iPhone 16, it is important to note that it is also coming to the iPhone 15 Pro models.

The iPhone models that will officially support Apple Intelligence include:

  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 16
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max

Therefore, if you currently own an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max, you can look forward to experiencing the benefits of Apple Intelligence. It’s not exclusive to the iPhone 16 lineup.

Requirements for Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence requires certain hardware specifications to function optimally. One of the key requirements is sufficient memory, with at least 8GB of RAM. Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies, Johny Srouji, confirmed that the decision to increase the RAM to 8GB was influenced by the development of Apple Intelligence.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, which have 6GB of RAM, fall short of the requirement for Apple Intelligence support. On the other hand, the iPhone 15 Pro models, as well as the entire iPhone 16 lineup, will boast the necessary 8GB of RAM.

Notably, the upgrade to 8GB of RAM will not only enhance the performance of Apple Intelligence but also benefit high-end mobile gaming on these devices. This makes the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max attractive options for gamers looking to enjoy the full capabilities of Apple’s AI tools.

Availability and Pre-Order

Apple Intelligence is expected to be rolled out in October. If you’re eager to experience the suite of AI tools, you can pre-order one of the new iPhone 16 models or consider upgrading to the iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max, which already support Apple Intelligence.

Keep in mind that the early testing phase of Apple Intelligence is only available on select iPhone devices. If you’re interested in trying out some of the features, you can download the iOS 18.1 developer beta. However, it’s important to back up your iPhone beforehand as betas can be a bit unstable.

Although there are some Apple Intelligence tools that cannot be tested yet, such as Genmoji (AI-generated emoji), the suite of AI features promises to enhance various aspects of iPhone users’ daily lives. From an improved Siri to writing tools for adjusting the tone of texts and emails, summarized notifications, call recording, and the Clean Up tool, Apple Intelligence is set to revolutionize the user experience.

So, whether you plan to get your hands on the latest iPhone 16 or already own an iPhone 15 Pro model, you can look forward to harnessing the power of Apple Intelligence and enjoying its innovative AI capabilities.
