Apple Watch Series 10: Release Date, Price, Design, and New Features

Apple Watch Series 10, also known as Apple Watch 10 or Apple Watch X, is expected to be released in September 2024 alongside the iPhone 16. As we approach the release date, leaks and rumors about the new features and design of the Apple Watch 10 have been circulating. Here’s everything we know so far:

Release Date:
The Apple Watch 10 is expected to follow Apple’s usual release schedule and drop in September 2024. Previous generations of Apple Watches have been released in September, except for the Series 7, which was released in October.

Price:
While there haven’t been any credible leaks about the pricing of the Apple Watch 10, it is expected to have the same starting price as its predecessor, which is $399. Apple has been consistent with its pricing strategy for Apple Watch models in recent years.

Design:
According to reputable sources like Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple Watch 10 will have a bigger display compared to previous models. Gurman suggests that the new display will be closer to the size of the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which has a 1.9-inch display. Kuo also mentioned that the Apple Watch 10 will feature new sizes: 45mm and 49mm instead of the current 41mm and 45mm options. There may also be a new color option, although the specific color is unknown. Additionally, Gurman claims that the Watch 10 will have a new magnetic mechanism for bands, making it easier to swap them out.

New Features:
Apple has been working on several health tools for the Apple Watch 10, including a blood-pressure monitor, sleep apnea sensor, and glucose monitor. However, Gurman suggests that the blood-pressure sensor has encountered some challenges during testing and may not make it to the final product. The sleep apnea sensor is also facing challenges due to a legal dispute. Even if the blood-pressure monitor is included, it will not provide actual readings but rather serve as a baseline reference. The performance of these health tools may determine whether it is worth upgrading to the Apple Watch 10.

Performance:
The Apple Watch 10 is expected to come with a new chip, which will lay the foundation for future AI-powered features. However, it is unlikely that Apple Intelligence, the company’s suite of AI features, will be available on the Apple Watch models anytime soon.

Is it Worth It?
If the Apple Watch 10 includes at least one new health tool, such as sleep apnea detection or blood-pressure monitoring, it could be beneficial for users who want to track these aspects of their health. However, considering that competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 already have these features, it may be worth waiting for the Apple Watch 11 if the reported snags with the new health tools are not resolved. Additionally, there may be other options to consider, such as the Apple Watch Ultra 3 or a new Apple Watch SE.
