Ubisoft has recently unveiled the first trailer for its highly anticipated game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Previously known as Codename: Red, this game is set to take players on a thrilling adventure through feudal Japan. Scheduled to be released on November 15, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna, and Ubisoft+.

One of the standout features of Shadows is its dual protagonists. Players will have the opportunity to play as Naoe, a stealthy shinobi, and Yasuke, a fierce samurai. This marks a departure from previous Assassin’s Creed games, which typically focused on a single protagonist. Naoe is the daughter of the historical ninja Fujibayashi Nagato and specializes in stealth and infiltration. On the other hand, Yasuke is based on the real-life samurai of the same name, making him the first samurai protagonist in the Assassin’s Creed series. He possesses combat-focused abilities reminiscent of fan-favorite characters like Eivor and Kassandra.

The game’s story is set in Sengoku-era Japan, a time of great turmoil and conflict as different factions vied for control of the country. Naoe and Yasuke cross paths in Iga, Naoe’s remote village, when Yasuke invades with Oda Nobunaga. Ubisoft’s follow-up video delves deeper into the protagonists’ backgrounds and sheds light on their motivations.

In line with the open-world nature of Assassin’s Creed games, Shadows offers players the opportunity to explore feudal Japan’s diverse environments. From bustling ports to sprawling cities and lush forests, the game promises a visually stunning experience. Ubisoft has also emphasized the inclusion of reactive environments, weather systems, and changing seasons, further immersing players in this rich historical setting.

To aid Naoe and Yasuke on their missions, players will be able to build up an information network and recruit allies. This adds a layer of strategy and customization to the gameplay, allowing players to tailor their experience to their preferred playstyle. Additionally, the option to customize their hideout adds a personal touch to the game, making it feel more immersive and engaging.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was initially teased at Ubisoft Forward in 2022, where it was announced alongside other upcoming Assassin’s Creed games, including Codename: Jade (now known as Assassin’s Creed Jade) and Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe. While Codename Red was shrouded in mystery at the time, the recent trailer has provided fans with a glimpse into the captivating world of feudal Japan.

As gaming enthusiasts eagerly await the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft has once again demonstrated its ability to create immersive worlds and captivating narratives. With its dual protagonists, rich historical setting, and innovative gameplay mechanics, Shadows is set to be another milestone in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Players can look forward to an unforgettable journey through feudal Japan when the game hits the shelves on November 15.
