Audi Announces Changes to 2025 Lineup: A5 Coupe and Convertible Retire, Leaving Gap in Two-Door Models

Audi’s lineup for the 2025 model year is undergoing some significant changes, with the coupe and convertible variants of the A5 being retired. This decision means that Audi will no longer have a coupe or a convertible in its range, marking the first time in decades that the brand will be without these iconic models.

In recent years, Audi bid farewell to the TT after three generations and produced the final R8 earlier in 2024. However, Audi has expressed its intention to fill the gap left by the TT within the next five to ten years, suggesting that there may be a new two-door model coming in the future. Unfortunately, there is no official word yet on whether the A5 coupe and convertible will be replaced.

Despite the discontinuation of these body styles, it is highly likely that the A5 nameplate will live on. Reports indicate that Audi plans to revamp its naming system as it expands its lineup of electric models. Under this new system, odd-numbered nameplates like the A3 and A5 will denote gasoline-powered models, while even-numbered nameplates like the A4 and A6 will be reserved for electric vehicles. This approach aims to avoid confusion by clearly distinguishing between different powertrain options within the same model range.

While awaiting the potential arrival of a new two-door model, Audi’s A5 lineup for 2025 consists solely of the Sportback variant. To keep things fresh, Audi has added several standard and optional features to the Sportback for the upcoming model year. The HomeLink transceiver is now included as standard, rear USB ports have been added to the Convenience Package, and the MMI Navigation Plus Package is now standard on the Premium Plus trim. Additionally, there are new packages available, such as the S Line Plus Package and the Convenience Plus Package, offered for select trim levels.

For those interested in purchasing an A5 Sportback in 2025, here is the pricing breakdown:

– RS5 Sportback: $81,195

In summary, Audi’s lineup for the 2025 model year will see the retirement of the A5 coupe and convertible variants. While the absence of these iconic models may be disappointing to some, Audi has hinted at the possibility of introducing a new two-door model in the coming years. Furthermore, Audi’s future naming system aims to provide clarity between gasoline-powered and electric models within its expanding lineup. In the meantime, Audi has enhanced the A5 Sportback for 2025 with additional features and packages. With its competitive pricing, the A5 Sportback continues to offer a compelling option for those seeking a stylish and versatile four-door coupe.
