Bethesda Game Studios Employees Join Communication Workers of America in First-Ever Microsoft Game Studio Union

Bethesda Game Studios, the renowned game developer behind popular titles like Elder Scrolls and Fallout, has taken a significant step towards fostering employee rights and representation. Following in the footsteps of their parent company, ZeniMax, whose quality assurance testers unionized last year, Bethesda’s employees are now joining the Communication Workers of America (CWA), making it the first wall-to-wall union at a Microsoft game studio.

The CWA will represent a total of 241 workers at Bethesda, including artists, engineers, programmers, and designers. These employees have either signed a union card or expressed their desire to join via an online portal. Furthermore, Microsoft, recognizing the employees’ rights, has voluntarily acknowledged the union without the need for an election.
