“Bugatti Announces Launch Date for Next Hypercar: A 1000bhp Hybrid V16”

Bugatti is set to launch its next hypercar on June 20th, featuring a 1000bhp hybridized naturally aspirated V16 engine. The brand has teased that the design of the new model will be inspired by iconic Bugatti models such as the Type 57 SC Atlantic, Type 41 Royale, and Type 35. Bugatti recently ended its eight-year Chiron era with the Super Sport L’Ultime, which also marked the end of the famous W16 engine. Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac revealed that the new hypercar will have a similar shape to its predecessor but with a lower and sleeker silhouette. Despite Rimac’s background in electric hypercars, he was adamant about bringing the V16 engine to fruition, as he believed it was essential to maintain Bugatti’s heritage and differentiate it from his own brand, Rimac. Rimac emphasized the importance of making the Bugatti powerplant as emotional as possible, ensuring it feels special and aligns with the brand’s slogan, “If it is comparable, it is no longer Bugatti.” While Bugatti has not provided specific details about the engine’s capacity, reports suggest it is around 8.3 liters and developed by Cosworth. The new hypercar will be Bugatti’s first production car in decades to feature a V16 engine. The firm describes its hybrid powertrain as incomparable and a pure embodiment of Bugatti’s DNA. The car’s design has already been signed off and will bring forward Bugatti into a new era while retaining signature cues such as the horseshoe grille and crescent-shaped beltline. It is not yet confirmed whether the hybrid drivetrain will allow for engine-off running or if both propulsion systems will work in tandem for maximum power output.
