Deceit 2 becomes free-to-play just before its console launch on April 3

blankWorld Makers has just announced that they are relaunching their popular social deduction/survival game, Deceit 2, as a free-to-play title. The developers have taken player feedback into account and made significant changes to the game, including the addition of a new faction called the Cursed. Alongside the PC relaunch, Deceit 2 will also be launching on PlayStation and Xbox consoles on April 3.

Deceit 2 is a co-op horror game where players must work together to survive. However, there is a twist – two players are secretly Infected and are working against the Innocent players. The addition of the Cursed faction adds another layer of complexity to the game, as they have their own separate goals. One of the unique roles in this faction is The Chemist, who is tasked with poisoning the other characters. To add even more excitement, a new map has been introduced in the latest update.

Following the relaunch, Deceit 2 will have a content roadmap that includes Seasons with unique rewards. While there is a Season Pass available, it is not necessary to enjoy all of the rewards. The first season, called “Humble Beginnings,” will launch on April 3, coinciding with the console release.

James Thompson, CEO of World Makers, explained the decision to switch to a free-to-play model, saying, “It wasn’t an easy decision moving to a free-to-play model, but we think it’s the right call to reduce the barrier to entry and make sure more people can enjoy Deceit 2.” Thompson also expressed gratitude towards players who had purchased the game before the free-to-play relaunch, stating that they would receive the Werewolf DLC, 3 Crypt Keys, in-game currency, and a Season One Pass for free as a token of appreciation for their support.

With the console launch on the horizon, Deceit 2 is set to reach an even larger audience. The game’s unique blend of social deduction and survival gameplay, along with the added complexity of the Cursed faction, promises an immersive and thrilling experience for players. Whether you’re a fan of horror games or enjoy testing your skills in a co-op setting, Deceit 2 is definitely worth checking out.
