Discover Stable Artisan: Generating Text and Video Content with Discord’s New AI Bot

Stability AI has launched its Stable Artisan Discord bot service, allowing users to generate images and videos using Stable Diffusion 3 (SD3) and Stable Video Diffusion (SVD) technology. This move follows rival gen AI image service Midjourney’s use of Discord as an interface, which has been in place since 2022.

Previously, Stability AI provided access to its Stable Diffusion models through an API and made the weights available on HuggingFace. Until February 2022, Stable Diffusion could also be accessed through the Clipdrop web service, which is now owned by gen AI startup Jasper. Stable Video, on the other hand, is still accessible through the StableVideo.com website owned by Stability AI.

The launch of Stable Artisan on Discord is an opportunity for Stability AI to monitor user behavior and ensure that the bot’s functionality and operation meet their standards before adding more features. Christian Laforte, co-CEO and CTO of Stability AI, expressed this sentiment.

To access Stable Artisan, users can create an account on the Stability AI website and then join the company’s Discord server. The service operates on a credit system, with each SD3 image costing 6.5 credits and a generation with the older Stable Diffusion model costing 3 credits. Video generation is priced at 20 credits per generation.

Stable Artisan offers more than just basic image generation. It includes editing and customization capabilities similar to those previously offered by Stability AI’s Clipdrop web service. These features include Search and Replace, Remove Background, Creative Upscale, Outpaint, Control Sketch, and Control Structure.

Despite the launch of Stable Artisan, there is still more to come from Stability AI. The Stable Artisan service does not currently provide access to Stable Audio, Stable Code, Stable LM, or other models for code and text generation. However, Stability AI is working on a conversational chatbot called Stable Assistant, which uses text-to-image and large language model (LLM) technologies to assist users with various tasks through natural language conversations.

Stable Assistant and Stable Artisan are both actively developed by Stability AI and cater to different user groups, according to Laforte.

In conclusion, Stability AI has expanded its AI technology to Discord with the launch of the Stable Artisan Discord bot service. This move follows the lead of rival gen AI image service Midjourney. While Stable Artisan offers a range of features for image and video generation, Stability AI also has plans for a larger conversational chatbot called Stable Assistant. Despite the current limitations of Stable Artisan, Stability AI continues to develop innovative AI applications to cater to different user needs.
