Dodge Unveils Pricing for First-Ever Charger EV: Prepare for Sticker Shock

Dodge has just revealed the pricing for its highly anticipated electric vehicle, the Dodge Charger EV. The two-door Charger Daytona R/T will have a starting price of $61,590, including shipping. While this may seem steep, it’s important to note that this is the first-ever Dodge Charger EV, and it comes with some impressive features.

Under the hood, the Charger EV packs a punch, boasting 496 horsepower and 404 lb-ft of torque. This power is made possible by a 400-volt, dual-motor platform that offers standard all-wheel drive and a mechanical limited-slip differential. But that’s not all – the Charger EV also comes with a PowerShot feature that provides a 40-horsepower boost for 15 seconds at the press of a button on the steering wheel.

The interior of the Charger EV is just as impressive as its performance. It features a nine-speaker Alpine audio system and a 12.5-inch center touchscreen running Uconnect. These tech upgrades enhance the overall driving experience and ensure that you’re always connected.

For those who crave even more power, Dodge offers the Scat Pack trim, priced at $73,190. This model comes with a “Direct Connection Stage 2 Upgrade” that boosts the horsepower to a whopping 670, along with 627 lb-ft of torque. With this upgrade, the Charger EV can go from zero to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, making it a true muscle car.

The Scat Pack also includes various drive profiles, including Track and Drag modes, as well as Donut, Drift, Line Lock, Launch Control, and Race Prep modes. These features cater to the performance-oriented driver who wants to push the Charger EV to its limits. Additionally, the Scat Pack comes with the Track Package, which includes six-piston fixed front and four-piston rear Brembo brakes, adaptive suspension, and wider tires.

While the Charger EV comes with impressive features and performance, there are a few optional extras to consider. One of the main options is the $4,995 Plus Group, which adds bucket seats, a heads-up display, a power hatch, premium LED headlamps, and puddle lighting. But perhaps the most exciting addition is the frunk (front trunk), which is available as an add-on. However, for those who don’t opt for the Plus Group, their Chargers will still have a closeout panel in place of the frunk.

It’s worth noting that the Charger EV is currently only available as a two-door model, and Dodge is focusing on production for this variant. The four-door variants and the twin-turbo, inline-six-powered Sixpack models will be released at a later date. This strategic decision allows Dodge to build anticipation for the EV model while catering to the desires of Mopar enthusiasts who prefer the traditional ICE coupe and sedan.

Production for the Daytona R/T and Scat Pack models will begin soon, with expected arrival in dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2024. The Charger EV will start rolling off the assembly line in the first half of next year, while the six-pack models will follow in the second half of 2025. Pricing for the latter two variants will be announced at a later date.

Overall, the Dodge Charger EV is set to make waves in the electric vehicle market. With its powerful performance, advanced technology, and iconic design, it’s sure to attract both EV enthusiasts and loyal Mopar fans. The pricing may be eye-watering, but for those who crave speed and style, the Charger EV is worth every penny.
