nWay, a game studio under Animoca Brands, has launched the beta version of Cosmic Bomber, a casual multiplayer action game that combines elements of Bomberman and Web3. This web and PC game is the latest addition to Mocaverse’s social gamification hub, Cosmic Club. The beta version is exclusively available to the 1.79 million Moca ID holders.
Cosmic Bomber is an action-maze game where players strategically place magic balloons to outsmart and eliminate rival teams. The game features real-time multiplayer competition, digital ownership of unique characters, and an innovative hybrid economy that allows players to earn, spend, and sell in-game assets. nWay, the game’s developer, is known for its action and fighting games, such as Wreck League.
Kristen Salvatore, the co-CEO of nWay, explained that Cosmic Bomber is a smaller-scale project compared to Wreck League and is aimed at a more casual audience. She stated that they learned a lot from Wreck League, which took time for players to master. Salvatore also noted that Web3 gamers are not as hardcore as expected and prefer engaging and quick games that they can play on the go.
The game is free to play and will monetize through a season pass and tokens that offer additional engagement and participation in the economy. The emphasis is on creating fun experiences for the players. Salvatore mentioned that the company is considering making the game available on iOS and Android in compliance with Web3 rules.
Cosmic Bomber leverages nWay’s experience in multiplayer games and features real-time player-versus-player competitions, digital ownership of characters, and an innovative hybrid economy. The game is part of a larger ecosystem called Project Wonder that brings different types of games into the same community.
Mocaverse, a Web3-friendly consumer network, has partnered with nWay to present Cosmic Bomber within their Cosmic Club social gaming hub. Moca ID holders can earn loyalty points by playing and competing in Cosmic Bomber, which can be spent to enroll in special tournaments and climb leaderboards.
Steve Kuroki, the co-CEO of nWay, expressed excitement about the launch of Cosmic Bomber and described it as a game that is familiar, easy to enjoy, and offers fun-filled competition with rewards.
nWay, comprised of experienced developers and executives from leading technology companies, was acquired by Animoca Brands in 2019 to strengthen their position in the competitive multiplayer gaming space. They have developed and published multiple successful games, including Wreck League and Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid.
The beta version of Cosmic Bomber is available exclusively to Moca ID holders, but the full game will be available to all players for free once the beta phase is concluded. Players can purchase in-game items if they choose to. Moca ID can be claimed for free with a Moca NFT or an invite code from the Mocaverse community members.
