Fiat is expanding its affordable line-up of models with the launch of a Dacia Duster-rivalling SUV and a Ford Puma-like compact crossover. These new additions will join the recently revealed Fiat Grande Panda supermini and will be released in 2025 and 2026. The SUV, referred to as a “giga-Panda,” will prioritize practicality and cater to the needs of family transportation. The Fastback, on the other hand, is a smaller crossover with a sporty flair and will serve as a successor to the Tipo hatchback and estate. Both cars will be closely related to the Grande Panda and Citroën’s new C3, utilizing the value-minded Smart Car platform that can accommodate various powertrain options, including pure-combustion, hybrid, and electric.
Fiat’s aim with these new models is to offer iconic and affordable city cars, inclusive compacts, and family mobility options. Company boss Olivier François emphasizes the importance of affordable pricing for their customers. While specific powerplant details have not yet been confirmed, the Citroën C3, which shares some similarities with the upcoming Fiats, offers a 1.2-liter three-cylinder mild-hybrid turbo petrol engine and electric powertrains with ranges of 124 miles and 203 miles.
With these new additions, Fiat is not only diversifying its product range but also targeting a wider global market. The company plans to launch a new car every year until 2027, demonstrating its commitment to growth and innovation in the affordable car segment. Pricing for the new SUV is expected to stay below £30,000, while the Fastback will likely be priced below £25,000.
Fiat’s push towards affordability and inclusivity aligns with the evolving needs and preferences of car buyers. The demand for practical yet stylish vehicles at reasonable prices continues to grow. By introducing these new models, Fiat aims to capture a larger market share and appeal to a wider range of consumers. With their emphasis on practicality, sportiness, and affordability, the upcoming SUV and Fastback from Fiat are poised to make a significant impact in their respective segments.
