“Ford Teases Electric Coupé-SUV in New Guerilla Marketing Campaign”

Ford’s upcoming electric coupé-SUV is generating buzz with its unique guerilla marketing campaign. The automaker released a preview image of the highly anticipated vehicle through an advert placed in print publications for a business called ‘Comeback Cars.’ Interested readers are encouraged to text ‘COMEBACK’ to the business via WhatsApp, initiating an automated conversation that provides one of two preview images: the headlight or the rear light.

There are strong indications that the new car will be called the Capri, as Autocar previously reported. The Comeback Cars ad subtly references the Capri, with the strapline ‘the cars you always promised yourself,’ paying homage to the original Capri’s campaign. Additionally, the numbers ‘1969’ and ‘1986’ in the ad represent the start and end dates of the Capri’s production run.

Adding to the intrigue, the WhatsApp script for the Capri campaign includes a quote from former Manchester United forward Eric Cantona’s 1995 diatribe. While the connection between the quote and the car remains unclear, it piques curiosity and adds an air of mystery to the campaign.

Ford has confirmed that the official reveal of the Capri is imminent. The vehicle has been spotted testing on public roads, and it is expected to share a platform with the new Explorer, using Volkswagen’s MEB platform. The Capri will offer three powertrain options with outputs ranging from 168bhp to 335bhp, as well as two battery choices of 52kWh and 77kWh.

Originally planned for launch around six months after the Explorer, the Capri’s timeline was affected by delays in re-engineering the Explorer to utilize a new battery pack. Despite this setback, Ford is determined to bring back the iconic Capri nameplate and deliver an exciting electric coupé-SUV to the market.

With its captivating marketing strategy and impressive specs, the Ford Capri is poised to make a splash in the electric vehicle market. Car enthusiasts and fans of the original Capri will be eagerly awaiting its official debut. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated model.
