Ford Teases New Variant of Mustang, Promising Exciting Additions to the Family

Ford has recently announced that a new variant of the Mustang will be launched next year, with the company promising that “the best is absolutely yet to come.” While a preview image released by Ford doesn’t reveal much, it does suggest that the new model may feature a more rakish rear spoiler compared to the Mustang Dark Horse.

Although not much is known about the car at this time, Matt Simpson, Ford’s general manager for enthusiast vehicles, shared some insights during the company’s 60th-anniversary press conference for the Mustang. Simpson stated, “It is going to be another addition to the Mustang stable. We are not stopping with Mustang, we are continuing to grow the family. Mustang has always been about being the most fun-to-drive car. This is going to be an amazing addition to the family, and we cannot wait to show you more.”

While Ford has yet to confirm any specific details about the new model, it is speculated that it could be Shelby’s take on the seventh-generation Mustang. This possibility gains weight as Shelby’s first upgraded pony car, the GT350, is also set to celebrate its 60th anniversary next year.

Ford’s expansion of the Mustang brand in recent years is evident. In 2020, they introduced the Mach-E, the first electric car to wear the iconic pony badge. Last year, they unveiled the Mach-E Rally, the first off-road-focused Mustang. Additionally, the seventh-generation V8 muscle car received a hardcore ‘GTD’ version, becoming Ford’s most powerful road car yet, with over 800bhp.

The continuous evolution of the Mustang brand showcases Ford’s commitment to catering to a wide range of driving enthusiasts. From petrol-powered cars to electric vehicles and even a street-legal supercar, Ford is determined to push boundaries and deliver thrilling driving experiences. Simpson affirms this by stating, “From road to racing, [petrol] to electric – we’ve even got a street-legal supercar – the best is absolutely yet to come.”

As Ford enthusiasts eagerly await more information about the new Mustang variant, it’s clear that this iconic nameplate will continue to captivate drivers with its performance, style, and innovation.
