Ford is shifting its focus back to performance trucks designed for pavement driving with the introduction of the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo. This turbo version of the truck boasts both visual and mechanical upgrades that enhance its overall appeal.

Starting with the exterior, the Lobo showcases a distinctive front fascia and grille, as well as body-colored lower trim and rear bumper. The vehicle comes standard with turbo-fan style aero wheels that add a sharp and stylish touch. However, for those who prefer a more conventional look, alternative wheel options are also available.

Inside the cabin, the Lobo features black upholstery with eye-catching Grabber Blue and Electric Lime stitching. Blue accents are scattered throughout the doors and dash, creating a cohesive and visually appealing interior. Ford has also equipped the Lobo with paddles on the steering wheel, allowing for easier and more enjoyable manual shifting.

Moving on to the mechanical changes, the Lobo sees significant improvements. The suspension is lowered and retuned, resulting in a half-inch drop in the front and a 1.12-inch drop in the rear. The roofline is also lowered by 0.8 inch. Additionally, the Lobo receives upgraded brakes with larger rotors, incorporating dual-piston brake calipers from the European Ford Focus ST. This upgrade provides owners with high-quality components up front, while also leaving room for easy upgrades for enthusiasts.

Further enhancements include a steering rack with a quicker steering ratio borrowed from the Ford Kuga, a radiator and fan from the 4K Towing Package, and an oil cooler for the transmission. The Lobo is equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission, which is not available on other Maverick trims. It also features a twin-clutch rear differential, similar to the Tremor, that allows for torque vectoring. Paired with the Lobo drive mode, this setup significantly reduces understeer under throttle and decreases stability control intervention.

While the engine remains unchanged, delivering 238 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, the overall improvements in performance and handling make the Lobo an enticing option for performance truck enthusiasts.

Ford offers two versions of the Lobo: the “Standard” and the “High.” The high-spec Lobo comes with a range of additional features, including a heated steering wheel, heated seats, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, a 360-degree camera, sunroof, and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist.

In terms of pricing, the standard Lobo starts at $36,595 with a $1,595 destination charge, while the high Lobo starts at $42,090 with the same destination charge. Interested buyers can place their orders starting on August 1, with deliveries scheduled for early 2025.
