Gemini vs ChatGPT: AI Wedding Planner Face-Off

Gemini vs ChatGPT: Create a to-do list

When it comes to planning a wedding, having a to-do list is essential. So, I decided to put both Gemini Advanced and ChatGPT Plus to the test and see which AI assistant could help me create the most comprehensive and efficient list.

Both AI assistants started off strong by suggesting that setting a budget should be the first step. However, Gemini made a critical mistake by recommending venue hunting before drafting a guest list. This oversight could cause unnecessary complications, as venues often require a guest count to provide accurate quotes and availability.

On the other hand, ChatGPT took a more practical approach and advised me to book the venue in 2024, giving me a head start on securing the perfect location. It also recommended finalizing other vendors, such as florists, entertainment, and photographers, in 2025. This early-bird approach can help ensure that I have my preferred choices before they get booked by other couples.

While ChatGPT suggested setting up a registry and obtaining a marriage license in 2025, Gemini was more relaxed, allowing me to procrastinate on the former until 2026 and omitting any mention of a marriage license.

Both AI assistants agreed that 2025 is the year for wedding dress shopping and sending out save-the-dates. In 2026, they both advised sending out invitations and confirming bookings with vendors.

However, ChatGPT offered some additional helpful tips that Gemini did not mention, such as using a folder or binder to organize quotes, contracts, and ideas in one place, as well as creating a wedding-day timeline for smooth coordination.

Winner: ChatGPT

Gemini vs ChatGPT: Find a cheap venue

Finding an affordable venue can be a challenge, especially when working with a limited budget. I wanted to see if Gemini Advanced and ChatGPT Plus could help me find a bang-for-your-buck venue within my $20,000 budget.

After searching the internet, I discovered some venues that offer all-inclusive packages under $20,000. I asked both AI assistants to find venues within my budget and preferred locations, with a guest count of 100, and a wedding date in 2026.

ChatGPT’s response included Pavilion at Sunken Meadow State Park, which offers a complete wedding package starting at $18,000. While it missed a couple of other budget-friendly venues, it was on the right track.

Gemini’s response, on the other hand, was disappointing. It provided a personalized quote from Leonard’s Palazzo, but it failed to find other venues within my desired region. It even included Manhattan-based recommendations that were not relevant to my search.

Winner: ChatGPT

Gemini vs ChatGPT: Calculate pricing

Pricing can be a confusing aspect of wedding planning, with various fees and taxes to consider. Both Gemini Advanced and ChatGPT Plus can “read” PDFs and screenshots, making them ideal AI assistants for calculating complex pricing charts.

I provided a 2025 pricing list from a venue and asked both AI assistants to calculate the total cost for a specific date, guest count, and additional fees.

Gemini Advanced offered a total of $21,017, while ChatGPT Plus calculated $20,568.69. The slight difference in totals can be attributed to Gemini adding the bridal attendant fee to the subtotal before applying the administration fee, while ChatGPT applied the administration fee first and then added the attendant fee. Based on my experience with other venues, ChatGPT’s calculation appeared to be more accurate.

Winner: ChatGPT

Gemini vs ChatGPT: Image generation of wedding concept

Creating a unique and visually appealing wedding concept can be a challenge. I asked both AI assistants to generate an image of a wedding reception that conveyed a tech-focused, celestial theme.

ChatGPT provided a single image that perfectly captured the essence of what I was looking for – a tech-focused, galaxy-themed wedding reception. On the other hand, Gemini generated three images, but only one of them truly aligned with my vision.

Overall, ChatGPT’s image was the most eye-catching and aligned with my desired theme.

Winner: ChatGPT

Gemini vs ChatGPT: Creativity based on wedding favor ideas

Choosing wedding favors that delight guests can be a fun and creative task. I asked both AI assistants to suggest ten techy wedding favor ideas that wouldn’t break the bank.

ChatGPT’s list included customized USB drives, portable phone chargers, LED keychains, earbuds, smartphone PopSockets, mini Bluetooth speakers, touchscreen gloves, digital photo frames, VR cardboard headsets, and fitness tracker bracelets.

Gemini’s list featured personalized USB drives, mini Bluetooth speakers, phone ring holders, custom phone PopSockets, portable power banks, LED flashing badges, selfie ring lights, miniature LED projectors, card-sized multitools, and wireless charging pads.

Both lists had some appealing options, such as mini Bluetooth speakers, portable power banks, and wireless charging pads. However, ChatGPT’s suggestions also included earbuds and fitness tracker bracelets, which caught my attention.

Winner: ChatGPT

Overall Winner: ChatGPT

In this face-off between Gemini Advanced and ChatGPT Plus, ChatGPT emerged as the clear winner. It provided more thoughtful and research-based responses throughout the wedding planning process.

Gemini Advanced, despite being a Google-owned service, fell short in several areas. Its responses were often lacking in accuracy and creativity, leaving me disappointed.

While both AI assistants are priced at $20 per month, ChatGPT’s superior performance and more comprehensive assistance make it the preferred choice for a wedding planner AI assistant.
