Honda Unveils “Ye” Series of Electric Cars and Crossovers at Beijing Motor Show 2024

Ye Series: Honda’s New Lineup of Electric Cars and Crossovers Unveiled

Honda and its partner companies in China are set to make a splash at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show — Auto China 2024. The spotlight will be on their new “Ye” series of electric cars and crossovers, with the first three models being showcased. These models are expected to revolutionize the electric vehicle (EV) market in China.

The highlight of the lineup is a sleek, low-slung sedan that is slated to hit the market by the end of next year. This sedan represents Honda’s commitment to innovation and cutting-edge design. In addition to this sedan, there will be three more models completing the Ye series, all of which are expected to be available in China by 2027.

The Ye series boasts two SUVs, the Ye P7 and Ye S7, which are set to go on sale at the end of 2024. These SUVs are built on a newly developed dedicated EV platform. They will come in two variations: a one-motor rear-wheel-drive model and a two-motor four-wheel-drive model. Both variations aim to provide drivers with the “joy of driving,” which is Honda’s primary focus. The company claims that the rear-wheel-drive variants will offer sporty and crisp handling, while the four-wheel-drive vehicles will enhance performance and have slightly more responsive handling.

Inside the cabins, details are limited, but Honda has revealed that they will feature an LED instrument panel and door panels that change in conjunction with AI-powered assistance and other functions. This integration of technology aims to provide a futuristic and immersive driving experience.

Another exciting addition to the Ye series is the Ye GT Concept sedan. This concept car offers a glimpse into Honda’s future design considerations for their EV plans in China. The company describes the driver’s seat as being designed to immerse the driver in the driving experience, similar to that of a race driver. Honda has focused on refining the dynamic performance to create a sense of unity between the driver and the vehicle. However, no specific powertrain details have been released yet.

One of Honda’s guiding principles for the Ye series is its “M/M” (Man Maximum, Machine Minimum) design approach. This design idea aims to maximize the space available for people while minimizing the space required for mechanical components, ultimately increasing the efficiency of the vehicle’s interior space.

To fully represent this new lineup, Honda chose the Chinese character “烨” meaning “shine brilliantly” as the name for the series. Additionally, all the models in the Ye series will feature Honda’s new white-colored “H mark” logo designated for their next-generation EVs.

In China, Honda is already making waves with its e:N Series of electric vehicles. The introduction of the Ye series further solidifies Honda’s commitment to the Chinese market and its efforts to lead the EV revolution. The Ye series will undoubtedly offer Chinese consumers a range of advanced and stylish electric options to choose from.

While Honda has not revealed pricing details for the Ye series, it is clear that they are determined to make an impact in the rapidly growing EV market. With their innovative design philosophy and commitment to enhancing the driving experience, Honda’s Ye series is set to shine brilliantly in China’s electric vehicle landscape.
