“Hyundai Reveals Pricing and Specifications for New Santa Fe SUV: A Flexible and Stylish Choice for Off-Road Enthusiasts”

Hyundai has recently unveiled the new Santa Fe, a family SUV that boasts a boxy design targeted at the off-road ‘lifestyle’ market. This revamped model features three different specifications, each offering two engine variants.

The entry-level option is a 1.6-litre turbo petrol hybrid that is available in both two- and four-wheel drive, generating 212bhp and 271lb ft of torque. The plug-in hybrid variant, on the other hand, is only available in four-wheel drive and produces 249bhp and 271lb ft of torque.

The pricing for the new Santa Fe starts at £46,775 for the Premium trim, which includes 20-inch alloy wheels, LED lights, and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. The next level up is the Ultimate trim, which comes with a £3500 premium and adds a Bose sound system, sunroof, head-up display, and ventilated front seats. At the top of the range is the Calligraphy, starting at £52,775, which offers nappa leather and additional off-road features like a front skidplate.

One of the key changes in the new Santa Fe is its departure from the previous model’s curvaceous lines in favor of a more rugged and angular appearance. This design shift is reminiscent of Land Rover and Jeep 4x4s, positioning the Santa Fe as a more robust and adventurous SUV. Hyundai has adopted a similar styling approach with their Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 models.

In terms of dimensions, the new Santa Fe measures 4830mm in length, 1900mm in height, and has a wheelbase that is 50mm longer than before. This increase in size translates to class-leading interior space according to Hyundai. The tailgate has also been enlarged to create a “terrace-like” space when the second and third rows of seats are folded down, providing room for a small workstation or lounge area.

While the towing capacity of the new Santa Fe falls short compared to premium rivals like the BMW X5 and Land Rover Defender, it still offers a respectable maximum towing weight of 1110kg, similar to the Kia Sorento.

Inside the Santa Fe, there is a focus on usability and practicality, with physical buttons and dials provided for critical functions such as climate control, radio, and drive mode controls. The interior also offers plenty of USB ports and wireless charging pads for mobile devices, as well as numerous storage cubbies and cupholders.

Hyundai has emphasized the use of sustainable materials in the new Santa Fe, with recycled plastics being used for the suede-like headliner, mats, and second- and third-row seatbacks. This commitment to sustainability aligns with Hyundai’s broader environmental efforts.

SangYup Lee, the executive vice-president and head of Hyundai’s global design center, described the new Santa Fe as an SUV that strikes a balance between city life and outdoor adventures. With its spacious interior and versatile features, the Santa Fe caters to both busy family lifestyles and car camping enthusiasts.

In conclusion, the new Hyundai Santa Fe offers a more rugged and versatile option in the family SUV market. With its boxy design, spacious interior, and off-road capabilities, it aims to attract those seeking adventure and practicality. The use of sustainable materials further adds to its appeal for environmentally conscious consumers.
