“IBM and Telefónica Tech Collaborate to Drive Digital Transformation with AI and Data Analytics”

IBM and Telefónica Tech have formed a partnership to address digital transformation challenges faced by corporations. One area of focus is the incorporation of data analytics with artificial intelligence (AI), specifically generative AI (GenAI), in order to optimize its capabilities.

A survey conducted by IBM reveals that nearly half of Spanish businesses utilizing AI have increased their investments in the past two years. This presents an opportunity for IBM and Telefónica Tech to provide solutions that benefit these businesses.

To facilitate the development of AI solutions, the companies will establish a multi-cloud platform that is open, hybrid, and can be used for AI and data management. This platform, named Shark.X, will encompass the entire value chain associated with enterprise data management and analytics. It will also integrate IBM’s Watsonx AI and data platform for the development and deployment of AI applications.

Telefónica Tech will work with clients to develop utilization scenarios for AI, integrate the solution into their environment, and establish the most suitable deployment architecture. To showcase the capabilities of their joint solutions, IBM and Telefónica Tech have established a use case office where they develop and exhibit minimum viable products.

Some of the use cases already operational include GenAI systems that generate code for IT applications, cognitive assistants for industrial operations, process automation, customer service, analytics, and audiovisual content and text document processing. These solutions demonstrate the diverse applications of AI in various industries.

Looking ahead, Gartner predicts that by 2026, over 80% of businesses worldwide will have implemented GenAI-powered applications or used GenAI APIs. This highlights the growing importance of AI in business operations. However, trust, risk, and security management (TRiM) are crucial considerations when implementing AI. TRiM ensures that AI functions correctly while mitigating potential risks such as data breaches or unethical recommendations.

Elena Gil Lizasoain, head of Telefónica Tech’s AI and data business unit, believes that the collaboration with IBM will contribute to the benefits of AI and proper data management in the business world. By combining their knowledge and expertise, the partnership aims to develop use cases that create more efficient and sustainable businesses.

In conclusion, the partnership between IBM and Telefónica Tech brings together their respective strengths in AI and data management to address digital transformation challenges. With the increasing adoption of AI globally, this collaboration will help businesses harness the power of AI responsibly and effectively.
