Immutable Games introduces Gods Unchained Web3 game on mobile platform

Immutable Games, the gaming-focused arm of Web3 gaming company Immutable, has announced the launch of its highly anticipated mobile game, Gods Unchained, on both Google Play and Apple’s App Store. After four years of development, the tactical card game is finally available for early access on mobile platforms.

The decision to release Gods Unchained on mobile came after the game’s pre-alpha build received significant demand and feedback from players who expressed a desire to play the game on-the-go. This early access build aims to extend the immersive experience of Gods Unchained to a global mobile audience, while also complementing the PC gaming experience.

The mobile version of Gods Unchained offers a range of features, including Immutable Passport integration, ranked, solo, and casual modes, a deck builder tool for deck optimization, and more. It builds upon the content and performance enhancements seen in the pre-alpha phase and introduces new strategic elements and captivating storylines.

The launch of Gods Unchained Mobile follows several milestones for the game, including its debut on Amazon Prime Gaming, re-listing on Epic Games Store, and the launch of Season 2, Far Horizons. Season 2 introduced the first major expansion, Tides of Fate, which incorporated new artwork, exclusive rewards, and fresh strategic elements.

As the mobile gaming industry is projected to grow by 4% year-over-year to $111.4 billion in 2024, Gods Unchained is strategically positioning itself to capitalize on this trend. The game offers players true ownership of in-game items through the use of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), allowing them to earn, trade, sell, and collect NFT cards for strategic deck-building and multiplayer battles.

Daniel Paez, executive producer of Gods Unchained, emphasized the importance of mobile gaming in today’s world. He stated, “Your mobile is probably one of your most important devices, which is why it was important for us to give players the freedom to choose where they want to play, whenever they want.”

The development of Gods Unchained Mobile has not been without challenges. The game was picked up and dropped multiple times by different teams as priorities shifted. Additionally, platform owners like Apple and Google had to work out their policies towards Web3 games, which raised concerns about illegal gambling and risks for young players.

To address these concerns, Immutable Games integrated Immutable Passport into the mobile game, allowing players to use their account to play Immutable games without setting up a Web3 wallet. The company aims to continue development and add additional features as policies clarify, including the ability to purchase items using Gods Unchained tokens and buy packs directly as NFTs.

Immutable Games is aware of the potential for fraud in the Web3 space and is working to prevent it while still making it easy for real players to make payments. Platform policies regarding Web3 are evolving, and there is ongoing litigation and debate surrounding the issue.

Despite these challenges, Gods Unchained has seen a positive turnaround thanks to the release of new content and game modes. The team plans to continue building on this momentum and engaging with players through a content creator program.

While the mobile game is currently referred to as a companion app rather than a full-blown game, Immutable Games has plans to add more features and reach out to platforms for marketing assistance in the future. The company aims to target players who enjoy games like Magic or Hearthstone and believes that Gods Unchained’s unique trading card system sets it apart from other games in the genre.

Overall, the launch of Gods Unchained Mobile marks a major milestone in the development of Web3 games. With the mobile gaming industry poised for significant growth, Immutable Games is taking advantage of this trend and offering players a seamless transition between desktop and mobile gaming. As Paez stated, “This is just the beginning, so stay tuned.”
