Introducing the 2025 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore: Maserati’s Stunning New Luxury Electric Convertible

2025 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore: A Pioneer in the Battery-Electric Luxury Grand Tourer Convertible Segment

Maserati has completed its initial trio of battery-electric offerings with the debut of the 2025 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore. This groundbreaking car, equipped with the Atlantis High powertrain, joins the Nettuno V6-powered GranCabrio Trofeo that Maserati unveiled earlier this year. The GranCabrio Folgore is the first of its kind, establishing a new segment for six-figure, four-seat, battery-electric luxury grand tourer convertibles. Although competition from electric models like the Porsche 911, Mercedes-AMG SL, or reborn Jaguar XKR may emerge in the future, the GranCabrio Folgore sets the bar high.

One of the key highlights of the GranCabrio Folgore is its convertible roof, available in five colors, which can fold down in just 14 seconds while cruising at speeds of up to 31 miles per hour. When the top is raised, the trunk space reduces from 9.5 cubic feet to 6.1 cubic feet. However, even with the top down, there is still a modest 4.6 cubic feet of room available for soft-sided bags. To ensure comfort during open-top driving, the seats come equipped with standard neck warmers. Additionally, customers have the option to include a wind blocker.

Underneath its striking design, the GranCabrio Folgore shares its T-shaped battery and three-motor drivetrain with the GranTurismo Folgore. While each motor on the Folgore can produce 402 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, Maserati has limited the combined output to 751 hp and 996 lb-ft in Corsa mode with launch control. It should come as no surprise that this powerhouse can achieve an estimated 0-60 mph time of 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 180 mph.

Maserati offers a range of options when it comes to wheels, with a choice of six designs. The front wheels are 20 inches in diameter, while the rear wheels are slightly larger at 21 inches. Two of the wheel designs are aero-focused and specifically designed for electric vehicles. In terms of range, the GranCabrio Folgore boasts an estimated 278 miles on a charge according to WLTP standards, with the EPA rating it at 250 miles. These figures are based on the use of aero options. Furthermore, Maserati claims that charging the battery from 20% to 80% can be accomplished in a mere 18 minutes using a DC fast charger capable of 270 kW. In just five minutes of charging, the battery can gain an additional 62 miles range.

Stepping inside the GranCabrio Folgore, drivers will find a mix of traditional Maserati elements combined with the unique features found in its electric sibling, the GranTurismo Folgore. The interior boasts a quartet of digital displays, including a gauge cluster, infotainment system, HVAC controls, and a clock. The front seats offer 18-way adjustability and are available in either recycled Econyl or leather upholstery. Music enthusiasts will enjoy the 16-speaker Sonus Faber audio system, while the carbon fiber trim with copper filaments adds a touch of elegance.

Maserati aims to start deliveries of the GranCabrio Folgore in the fourth quarter of this year after opening order books in August. Although the automaker has not released pricing details yet, based on the $210,000 price tag of the hardtop GranTurismo Folgore, it is expected that the GranCabrio Folgore will be priced around $225,000.

In conclusion, the 2025 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore is a remarkable addition to the world of electric luxury grand tourer convertibles. Its distinctive design, impressive performance, and advanced features make it a true pioneer in its segment. With its battery-electric powertrain and luxurious interior, the GranCabrio Folgore offers an exhilarating driving experience without compromising on comfort and style. As Maserati continues to innovate in the electric vehicle space, it is evident that the future of luxury automotive is electric.
