“Jeep Avenger 4xe: A Rugged and Capable Hybrid SUV with Impressive Off-Road Performance”

The Jeep Avenger has introduced a new 4xe range-topper that boasts a rugged and powerful all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain. Antonio Filosa, the brand boss of Jeep, confidently claims that the Avenger 4xe will outperform any rival in its class when it comes to off-road capability. The Avenger was initially launched as an electric vehicle in mid-2023, followed by a cheaper pure-petrol variant in the UK. However, Jeep always intended to offer an all-wheel-drive version to capitalize on its reputation for off-road prowess.

The Avenger 4xe combines a 134bhp 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and two 28bhp electric motors, one on each axle. This hybrid system, operating at 48V, is designed to provide substantial traction and torque for superior off-road performance. Jeep claims that the Avenger 4xe can generate up to 1400lbft of torque at the rear wheels, thanks to the combination of motor torque and gear ratio.

In terms of performance, the all-wheel-drive system enables the Avenger 4xe to accelerate from 0-62mph in 9.5 seconds, with an increased top speed of 120mph. Jeep also asserts that there is only a minimal increase in CO2 emissions compared to the existing Avenger hybrid model available in some markets. The powertrain features a ‘smart’ all-wheel-drive system that ensures power is sent to all four wheels at speeds below 19mph. Between 19 and 56mph, power is only directed to the rear axle when necessary, while higher speeds prioritize two-wheel-drive for fuel efficiency.

Jeep’s commitment to off-road capability is further demonstrated by the Avenger 4xe’s smart all-wheel-drive system and its Selec-Terrain drive mode function. The power distribution and stability control can be adjusted according to different conditions through modes such as Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud, and Sport. The Avenger 4xe also benefits from on-demand torque distribution, with a split of up to 50:50. This allows the vehicle to conquer slopes of up to 40 percent, even with no grip on the front axle. Additionally, the Avenger 4xe features multilink rear suspension for improved articulation on the rear axle.

Design-wise, the Avenger 4xe incorporates several tweaks compared to the regular version. The fog lights have been repositioned higher on the car to enhance visibility, and roof rails and a rear tow hook have been added. The front and rear bumpers are made from a scratch-resistant material, and the front bumper provides greater wheel visibility and additional cladding. Other notable features include a bonnet sticker to reduce reflections while driving in sunny weather and standard mud and snow tires mounted on black alloys.

Inside the cabin, the Avenger 4xe offers new seats made from washable material for easy maintenance and increased durability throughout the cabin. The Avenger 4xe is set to go on sale in the UK later this year, with pricing details yet to be confirmed.

In conclusion, the Jeep Avenger 4xe brings together a powerful hybrid powertrain, advanced all-wheel-drive capabilities, and rugged design elements to deliver exceptional off-road performance. Jeep’s commitment to off-road capability is evident in the various features and technologies incorporated into the Avenger 4xe. With its impressive torque output, smart all-wheel-drive system, and versatile drive mode options, the Avenger 4xe is poised to dominate its class in off-road capability.
