Jeep is simplifying its lineup by offering the electric Jeep Wagoneer S in a single configuration called Launch Edition. Bill Peffer, Jeep’s senior vice president, recognizes the need for complexity reduction, stating that they could “stand to do a little bit more of it.”

Currently, when configuring a 2024 Wrangler, buyers are presented with a staggering number of options. There are two models available: the Wrangler and the Wrangler 4xe. The former offers eight trim levels, including Sport, Sport S, Willys, Rubicon, Sahara, Rubicon X, Rubicon 392, and Rubicon 392 Final Edition. Additionally, three-door and four-door options are available for most trims. On the other hand, the four-door-only 4xe has six trim levels to choose from. Altogether, this results in a total of 19 choices for Wrangler trims and body styles, without even considering engine options and other customizable features.

The Grand Cherokee lineup is equally extensive, with nine trim levels to choose from, excluding the seven variants of the plug-in hybrid 4xe. While having a wide selection may seem beneficial, it can actually create confusion among buyers and increase production costs for carmakers.
