Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Breaks 0-400-0 Record and Sets Three Other Records

Koenigsegg continues to dominate the world of supercars with its latest record-breaking performance. In a recent test, the Swedish automaker shattered the 0-400-0 km/h (0-249-0 mph) record with its Jesko Absolut.

It all started back in 2017 when Juan Pablo Montoya achieved the feat in a Bugatti Chiron. However, Koenigsegg had its eyes set on making its mark. A month later, Koenigsegg’s Agera S surpassed Montoya’s record, and they did it again another month later, pushing the boundaries even further.

But Koenigsegg wasn’t satisfied with just those records. In 2019, they set a new benchmark with their hybrid Regera, completing the 0-400-0 km/h test in an impressive 31.49 seconds. Rimac, another notable player in the supercar industry, joined the race in 2020, setting multiple records with its Nevera and achieving the 0-400-0 km/h feat in only 29.94 seconds.

Not to be outdone, Koenigsegg came back strong with their Regera, reclaiming the record with a time of 28.81 seconds. And now, the Jesko Absolut has taken it to a whole new level with an astonishing time of 27.83 seconds. This not only breaks Koenigsegg’s previous record but also sets three other records in the process.

It’s fascinating to compare the cars that achieved these remarkable speeds. On one side, there’s the Jesko Absolut, an all-wheel-drive electric coupe with mind-boggling power figures – 1,888 horsepower and 1,726 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, there’s Rimac’s Nevera, a rear-wheel-drive internal combustion coupe with a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 producing 1,577 hp and 1,105 lb-ft of torque.

Interestingly, both cars used the same Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires for their record-breaking runs. Rimac boasts a coefficient of drag of 0.3 in low-drag mode, while Koenigsegg reports a slightly lower figure of 0.278. However, the most significant difference lies in the weight. The Nevera weighs approximately 5,071 pounds, while the Jesko Absolut is significantly lighter at around 3,064 pounds with fluids.

For the record-breaking run, Koenigsegg made minimal modifications to the Jesko Absolut. They added a roll cage for safety purposes and gave their development driver Markus Lundh a seat from their previous model, the Koenigsegg One:1.

Lundh’s skills on the track were evident as he not only achieved the 0-400-0 km/h record but also set records for hitting 400 kph (249 mph) in just 18.82 seconds, reaching 250 mph in 19.20 seconds, and completing the 0-250-mph-0 challenge in an impressive 28.27 seconds. He even touched 256 mph during the run.

Christian von Koenigsegg, the company’s founder and CEO, expressed his confidence in the Jesko Absolut’s performance and its potential to be the fastest fully homologated production car in the world. With this feat, Koenigsegg has further solidified its position as a leader in the supercar industry.

And this is just the beginning. Koenigsegg has teased an upcoming track version of the Jesko Absolut called the Jesko Attack, promising even more astonishing performance figures. The competition between supercar manufacturers continues to push the limits of engineering and technology, delivering unprecedented speed and power to automotive enthusiasts worldwide.
