Revised Korean-Market EV6 Unveiled with Striking Design Updates
Kia has unveiled the updated Korean-market version of its popular EV6, showcasing its sleek design and a host of new features. As is customary with lifecycle updates, the most noticeable changes can be seen in the front fascia. The traditional headlights have been replaced with the “Star Map” lighting system, which creates a visually striking polygonal pattern surrounding the redesigned front bumper. Additionally, an illuminated crossbar has been added, further enhancing the EV6’s futuristic appeal.
Turning our attention to the rear of the vehicle, we can observe smaller yet impactful updates. The full-width light bar now features complementary lighting, adding a touch of sophistication to the EV6. Furthermore, the GT-Line variant boasts new mock diffuser shapes, providing a distinct visual differentiation from the lower trims. To further enhance its overall aesthetic, Kia has introduced new geometric wheels in black and silver, available in 19 or 20-inch sizes, aligning the EV6 with Kia’s expanding range of electric vehicles.
Stepping into the cabin, we are greeted by a reshaped instrument panel with a clean rectangular design, exuding a sense of modernity. The non-GT trims come equipped with an upswept lines crossbar steering wheel, which adds a touch of elegance to the interior. In terms of comfort and safety, Kia engineers have made significant enhancements. The EV6 now boasts improved body rigidity, achieved by a thicker B-pillar, ensuring a more solid and stable ride. The addition of enhanced sound deadening around the rear motor contributes to a quieter and more serene cabin environment. Moreover, damper tuning has been fine-tuned to optimize the driving experience. Safety is prioritized, with the EV6 equipped with an impressive 10 airbags placed throughout the occupant quarters, providing comprehensive protection.
One of the most significant updates is the increased battery capacity, now at 84.0 kWh compared to the previous 77.4 kWh. This upgrade brings a range of benefits, including faster charging times and extended driving ranges. The EV6 boasts an impressive 350 kW fast-charging capability, allowing for a lightning-fast replenishment of charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. In a similar update made to the Hyundai Ioniq 5, this latest battery upgrade resulted in a 20-mile increase in range. While the official EPA range for the EV6 is yet to be confirmed, it is worth noting that in Korea, the crossover gains an additional 19 kilometers of range.
Enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the EV6’s availability in their respective markets will not have to wait much longer. It is anticipated that this updated version will make its debut as a 2025 model, hinting at an imminent release.
