“Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann Unveils the Temerario: A New Hybrid Supercar Igniting Passion in the Automotive World”

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann is a key figure in the history of the prestigious Italian automaker. With successful launches like the Gallardo supercar and the Urus SUV, he has proven his influence and expertise. Now, as the beloved Huracán reaches the end of its production, Winkelmann introduces the Temerario as its successor.

While the Temerario may not have the iconic V-10 naturally aspirated engine of the Huracán, Winkelmann is confident that it will still ignite the passion of Lamborghini enthusiasts. The new supercar boasts a V8 bi-turbo engine that revs to an impressive 10,000 RPM. Additionally, three electric motors enhance its performance, with two on the front axle and one between the engine and gearbox. This combination delivers a staggering 907 horsepower, allowing the Temerario to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 212 mph.

Winkelmann emphasizes the importance of surpassing the previous generation’s performance and handling capabilities. The weight-to-power ratio is crucial for Lamborghini’s success, as it is one of the defining characteristics of the brand. However, Winkelmann also recognizes the need to prioritize environmental concerns. He believes that the hybrid powertrain’s ability to reduce emissions through its battery system and enhance performance with electric motors is the right direction for Lamborghini.

The success of the Revuelto hypercar, which features a V12 hybrid powertrain, further supports Lamborghini’s commitment to hybrid technology. The Revuelto is already sold out for the next year of production, if not longer.

While Lamborghini celebrates the introduction of the cutting-edge Temerario, the luxury automotive market faces challenges. The concerns include a slowdown in the US and abroad, global tensions, and high interest rates. However, Winkelmann’s clientele remains undeterred. Despite the global crisis and changing geopolitical landscape, Lamborghini continues to experience strong demand. Winkelmann attributes this phenomenon to the “YOLO” effect, where people have an increased desire to live life to the fullest after the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, Lamborghini has a long waiting list for its cars.

While the luxury automotive industry navigates these challenges, Lamborghini stands out as a success story. It has created its own organic passion through bold design and cutting-edge powertrains. Winkelmann has demonstrated this possibility since the launch of the Gallardo two decades ago.

Looking ahead, Winkelmann is optimistic about Lamborghini’s future. He reveals that the company has already achieved record-breaking sales in the first six months of the year. If this momentum continues, 2024 will be an exceptional year for Lamborghini.

Despite uncertainties, Lamborghini and Winkelmann believe they have the winning formula in place. By capturing the attention of their discerning customers with innovative designs and hybrid powertrains, they maintain their position as a leader in the luxury automotive industry.
