Land Rover Showcasing British Royal Family’s Collection at 2024 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

Reuniting the British royal family’s collection of Land Rovers, the 2024 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will be showcasing 10 off-roaders that have served as VIP vehicles for decades. This rare gathering of vehicles, some still in possession of the royal family while others in private collections, will take place at the prestigious event as Land Rover celebrates its history with the British monarchy.

Among the vehicles on display is the oldest model, a 1954 Series I State Review vehicle. This particular Land Rover was specially built for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, who used it during their six-month tour of the Commonwealth, particularly in Australia. Notably, this vehicle features a custom-designed rear platform, making it an iconic piece of British automotive history.

On the other end of the spectrum is a 2009 Range Rover that holds a special place in Queen Elizabeth II’s heart. This model, registered as CK58 NPJ, became her favorite vehicle after joining the royal fleet. The vehicle’s hood ornament, a labrador, has been removed for safekeeping and will not be displayed at Pebble Beach. Nonetheless, this Range Rover symbolizes the enduring connection between the royal family and Land Rover.

The collection also includes a 1966 Series IIa Station Wagon with the registration JYV1D. Not only is this vehicle significant as the first Land Rover powered by a six-cylinder engine, but it also showcases various special features requested by the royal family. From leather upholstery to side steps and a wooden dog guard, this Land Rover demonstrates the bespoke nature of vehicles for the monarchy.

Additionally, one of the original Range Rovers used as a State Review vehicle from 1975 to 2002 will be part of the display. This particular Range Rover boasts folding rear seats and even a concealed umbrella, highlighting the luxury and functionality that Land Rover provided to the royals.

While Land Rover’s evolution as a brand includes its recent split into three entities, this reunion of the British royal family’s Land Rovers presents a unique opportunity to see these historical vehicles together in the United States for the first time. To celebrate this occasion, Land Rover will host a British garden party to immerse attendees in the rich heritage and elegance of their royal connections.

As Pebble Beach approaches on August 18, 2024, automotive enthusiasts and fans of the royal family alike can anticipate an extraordinary display of Land Rovers that have played a significant role in British royal history.
