Maserati Unveils GT2 Stradale: A Hyper-Aggressive Supercar with Enhanced Performance and Aero Package

Maserati has unveiled the GT2 Stradale, a powerful new supercar that builds upon the MC20 to deliver enhanced performance and a more aggressive design. The collaboration between Maserati’s road car and GT2 racing program teams is evident in the extreme aerodynamics of the GT2 Stradale. The “shark nose” front bumper, large chin, and increased cooling intakes create a visually striking appearance that signals the car’s high-performance capabilities.

The GT2 Stradale features several design modifications compared to the MC20. The front fenders now have vents to expel hot air and cool the brakes, while the rear intakes have been redesigned to improve airflow to the intake and radiators by 16%. The rear wing, inspired by the GT2, is adjustable to suit different driving conditions. The car’s bumper allows for a clear view of the wide rear tires, and a large diffuser aids in the overall aerodynamics. Maserati states that the GT2 Stradale generates 1,102 pounds of downforce at 174 mph, a significant increase from the MC20’s 320 pounds at the same speed.

Under the hood, the GT2 Stradale features a slightly revised 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 640 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. This power enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 201 mph. Maserati has made improvements to the turbochargers, exhaust manifolds, and exhaust to extract an additional 10 horsepower for the GT2 Stradale. The eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox has been optimized for quicker shifts, and the E-LSD (electronic limited-slip differential) has been revised to improve traction.

While the GT2 Stradale shares the same carbon fiber monocoque chassis as the MC20, it benefits from the GT2-spec suspension, which enhances handling beyond the capabilities of its sibling. The car also features a new steering system designed specifically for track use. To ensure optimal performance on the track, Maserati has collaborated with Brembo to develop high-performance brakes that surpass the carbon ceramic brakes available on the MC20.

Maserati has revised the drive modes, stability control, traction control, and ABS systems for the GT2 Stradale. Furthermore, the car offers a drive mode called “Corsa EVO,” which provides greater control over the safety systems on the track. This mode is only available with the optional Performance Packs. The first pack includes Michelin “semi-slick” tires, the E-LSD, the carbon ceramic brakes, and the Corsa EVO drive mode. The second pack adds four-point racing belts with corresponding brackets and a fire extinguisher.

The interior of the GT2 Stradale complements the extreme exterior design. The center console has been redesigned to minimize buttons and switches, highlighted by yellow accents for easy identification. Carbon fiber bucket seats, available in “small” or “large” sizes, ensure a secure and comfortable driving experience on the track. However, Maserati offers the option to equip the car with the MC20’s regular seats for added comfort. The steering wheel features a thicker rim and shift lights across the top. The car retains the highly regarded UConnect infotainment system, digital cluster, premium Sonus Faber sound system, and various driver assistance systems.

Maserati has yet to announce the price of the GT2 Stradale, but it is expected to exceed the MC20’s starting price of $242,995. The car is available in four standard colors, including the visually stunning Digital Aurora Matte shown in the launch photos at Monterey. Customers can also choose from a range of customization options through Maserati’s Fuoriserie program.
