McLaren Automotive CEO Michael Leiters has expressed his desire to bring the company’s road cars back to their motorsport roots. He believes that by drawing clearer parallels between their road cars and racing machines, McLaren can create a bolder identity for their products. While it may seem early to judge any impact from Leiters’ vision, the McLaren 750S and the revised Artura plug-in hybrid supercar show signs of a shift towards a more wild and expressive character.

The Artura, in particular, feels like a fresh start for McLaren. The car experienced a troubled and delayed market launch in summer 2022, prompting significant technical revisions. However, sales have been slow to pick up. To give the Artura a clean slate, McLaren has made extensive revisions for the 2025 model year.
