Mercedes-Benz Unveils New Maybach SL and Classic Cars at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2024

Mercedes-Benz has a long-standing relationship with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, an annual event that celebrates classic cars. Over the years, Mercedes-Benz has won the event’s prestigious Best of Show award 10 times. As we look forward to the upcoming 2024 edition of the show, Mercedes-Benz has some exciting plans in store.

One of the highlights of Mercedes-Benz’s presence at Pebble Beach will be the unveiling of three new cars, including the first Maybach-branded SL. While details about the Mercedes-Maybach SL are still under wraps, the name itself gives us some clues about what to expect. The current SL, marketed by AMG, is focused on performance, but the Maybach model is expected to prioritize luxury. This means we can anticipate a distinctive exterior design, potentially featuring the iconic Maybach grille, and a more upscale interior.

Joining the Maybach SL at Pebble Beach is the S680 Edition Nordic Glow. This limited-edition model, based on the long-wheelbase S-Class, has been specifically developed for the American market by Mercedes-Benz’s Manufaktur division. With only 50 units set to be produced, the S680 Edition Nordic Glow promises to offer unique styling and exclusivity.

In addition to these new offerings, Mercedes-Benz will also pay homage to its rich racing heritage with the debut of the GT3 race car. This special edition car draws inspiration from two significant eras of motorsport. While further details are still to be revealed, we know that only 13 units will be built, adding to its exclusivity and desirability.

For classic car enthusiasts, Mercedes-Benz’s Classic division will be bringing four historic models to Pebble Beach. Among them is a 1924 two-liter race car that famously won the Targa Florio race in Sicily a century ago. Another highlight is the 1970 C111-II, a prototype with an innovative four-rotor Wankel engine that was capable of reaching a breathtaking top speed of 186 mph. This iconic model has recently been fully restored by Mercedes-Benz’s Classic Center, ensuring its pristine condition for Pebble Beach.

Both the Targa Florio race car and the C111-II will take part in the Tour d’Elegance, a scenic drive scheduled for August 15. This allows attendees to witness these historic vehicles in motion, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.

The 2024 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will kick off on Sunday, August 18, in Monterey, California. As always, this premier automotive event promises to showcase the finest classic cars and celebrate the rich heritage of the automotive industry. With Mercedes-Benz’s presence and the unveiling of their new models, the 2024 edition is set to be an unforgettable experience for car enthusiasts and luxury aficionados alike.
