MetaMask and HyperPlay Collaborate to Improve Web3 Game Discovery and User Experience

HyperPlay and MetaMask have joined forces to create a one-stop shop for discovering and managing blockchain games. The partnership aims to improve the Web3 user experience by making it easier for gamers to find and play Web3 games while conducting in-game transactions using cryptocurrency wallets like MetaMask. This collaboration is significant as Web3 games have struggled to reach mainstream players, but have seen success through the addition of hybrid Web2/Web3 games on app stores.

HyperPlay’s game store serves as an aggregator of other stores, such as the Epic Games Store, offering players a unified hub to access the latest games without any walled gardens. The platform’s 0% fee model ensures that every dollar spent on HyperPlay games goes directly to game developers, allowing them to reinvest in further game development. HyperPlay also prioritizes innovation by providing advanced features and tools, like interoperable items and wallets, and cross-platform support for various operating systems.

The integration between HyperPlay and MetaMask allows players to discover MetaMask-compatible games directly within MetaMask’s platform, bridging the gap between mainstream gaming and blockchain utility. Previously, players had to use separate marketplaces outside of the games they were playing to access Web3 features. Since its launch, HyperPlay has offered a unique MetaMask wallet overlay, enabling in-game purchases and token collection across all its titles.

The collaboration between HyperPlay and MetaMask not only facilitates a seamless user experience for in-game transactions but also enhances interoperability between games. This integration signifies a long-term collaboration and expands the functionality of digital asset custody solutions. JacobC.eth, the founder of HyperPlay, expressed excitement about reshaping the Web3 experience with MetaMask and expanding accessibility and interoperability for all players. MetaMask’s recent growth, including features like MetaMask Snaps and integration with numerous dapps, positions it as a leading self-custody platform worldwide.

HyperPlay’s initial launch was a collaboration between MetaMask and Game7, dedicated to constructing Web3 gaming infrastructure. The platform aims to establish interoperability as the standard for all Web3 games, enabling developers to unlock new audiences and revenue streams. With a focus on serving both gamers and game developers, HyperPlay charges zero fees on in-game economies and listing fees, differentiating itself from platforms like Apple and Steam.

The team at HyperPlay consists of 17 people working remotely, with a headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. The company’s recent $12 million Series A funding round, co-led by Griffin Gaming Partners and Bitkraft Ventures, along with Consensys and Square Enix, demonstrates the industry’s confidence in the platform’s potential. While HyperPlay plans to monetize optional convenience features for users in the future, their current priority is providing a seamless and accessible gaming experience for all players.
