Microsoft’s Copilot GPT Builder now accessible to all Pro subscribers

Microsoft’s Copilot GPT Builder, a tool that allows users to build customized versions of the chatbot, is now accessible to all customers of its paid Copilot Pro tier. This announcement comes despite ongoing lawsuits and showcases Microsoft’s commitment to advancing its AI technology. The Copilot GPT Builder can be accessed through the Copilot web app and allows users to create their own task-specific versions of the chatbot.

To access the Copilot GPT Builder, subscribers simply need to move their cursor to the right side menu of the Copilot web app and click on “See all Copilot GPTs.” This will open a dialog box with various “Custom GPTs” that users can access, including new ones created by Microsoft. There is also an option to create a new Copilot GPT, which opens a conversational chatbot interface. Users can toggle between this interface and one with forms and fields for easier customization.

The Copilot GPT Builder is similar to OpenAI’s GPT Builder but offers additional features such as the ability to toggle web browsing and image generation capabilities using Microsoft’s Designer AI app. It also supports retrieval augmented generation (RAG), allowing users to access and retrieve data not originally included in the training set.

One user on LinkedIn shared two custom Copilots they had created using the GPT Builder: “Synonym Finder,” which assists with finding synonyms for words, and “OKR Assistant,” which helps software engineering teams write effective OKRs (Objectives and Key Results). These examples showcase the versatility and potential of the Copilot GPT Builder.

Interestingly, Microsoft’s Copilot GPT Builder was developed independently of OpenAI’s involvement. While the companies share close ties, Microsoft pursued its own version of the tool. This may indicate that Microsoft is working to reduce its reliance on OpenAI, as previously reported by The Information.

Overall, Microsoft’s Copilot GPT Builder offers users a powerful tool to create customized chatbots without any technical or programming knowledge. It opens up possibilities for employees to build apps tailored to their job responsibilities, working style, and workflow. With its advanced features and expanded capabilities, the Copilot GPT Builder is a valuable addition to Microsoft’s AI offerings.
