“New Electric Mercedes-Benz G-Class: Pricing, Specs, and Range in the UK”

Mercedes-Benz has launched the electric version of its iconic G-Class SUV in the UK, with a starting price of £180,860. The G580 with EQ Technology looks similar to its internal combustion engine counterparts but features a powerful quad-motor electric powertrain, delivering an impressive 579bhp and 859lb ft of torque. The SUV is equipped with a 116kWh battery, providing a range of up to 292 miles and supporting charging speeds of up to 200kW.

In addition to the electric G-Class, Mercedes has also introduced petrol and diesel variants of the updated G-Class. The entry-level G450 diesel is priced at £136,690, the petrol G500 at £146,095, and the AMG G53 at £184,595. This launch is part of Mercedes’ wider update to its UK lineup, which includes the reintroduction of the diesel plug-in hybrid powertrain for the E-Class.

The E300de, a diesel plug-in hybrid, combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with a 127bhp electric motor and a 19.5kWh battery. The powertrain generates a total output of 308bhp and 516lb ft of torque. With an electric-only range of up to 68 miles and the ability to recharge at up to 55kW on DC power, the E300de is priced from £66,610 in saloon form or slightly higher as an estate.

The GLE SUV also offers a similar powertrain option, featuring a larger 24.8kWh battery that can charge at up to 60kW. The power outputs are increased to 329bhp and 553lb ft of torque, but the electric range is reduced to a maximum of 63 miles. The GLE 350de is priced at £77,360.

As part of the update, Mercedes has introduced an optional Refinement Package for the E-Class, EQE, and GLC models. This package replaces the steel suspension with an air-sprung system and adds rear-wheel steering to the E-Class.

Mercedes has also launched the revised EQS saloon, which now boasts an extended range of 481 miles thanks to its new 118kWh battery. The EQS is priced from £112,610 with the 450+ powertrain, while the Business Class version, featuring the traditional S-Class-style grille, starts at £119,610.

In a separate announcement, Mercedes unveiled the Maybach variant of the larger EQS SUV, which carries a price tag of £200,860.

Overall, Mercedes’ latest lineup updates reflect the brand’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle offerings. The introduction of electric powertrains for the G-Class, E-Class, and GLE SUV, along with the extended range of the EQS saloon, showcases Mercedes’ determination to cater to diverse customer preferences and meet the growing demand for electric vehicles in the UK market.
