New Executive Director of ESA Foundation, Sue Madden, to Lead Efforts in Video Game Industry’s Social Impact

blankSue Madden has been appointed as the new executive director of the ESA Foundation, according to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). The ESA Foundation focuses on utilizing the power of the video game industry to create a positive social impact. Madden will lead the foundation’s efforts in promoting education, community, diversity, and inclusion within the industry.

With over 20 years of experience in leading corporate philanthropy programs, Madden brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role. Her previous work has centered around community outreach, engagement, and DE&I initiatives. Before joining the ESA Foundation in June 2023, Madden served as its interim executive director.

Under Madden’s leadership, the ESA Foundation has already made significant progress in setting a new strategic direction. The foundation has awarded over 450 scholarships and invested more than $22 million since its inception in 2000. These efforts aim to develop a diverse talent pipeline and support the future leaders of the video game industry.

In addition to her corporate philanthropy experience at the USA TODAY Network’s Gannett Foundation and BAE Systems, Madden also ran her own consulting group for 14 years. Through the Madden Group, she helped businesses and foundations maximize their business and social impact.
