“New-Look Skoda Octavia: Affordable and Stylish Family Car Now Available in the UK”

Skoda has launched the new-look Octavia in the UK, offering competitive pricing and a range of options for customers. The updated family car features a redesigned front-end, improved infotainment system, and a more powerful vRS range-topper. It is available in four trim levels and two bodystyles: hatchback and estate.

The base trim, SE Technology, starts at £26,775 with the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. The estate body adds around £1000 to the cost. Standard equipment includes 16-inch alloy wheels, LED lights, heated front seats, a 13-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone mirroring, and a charging pad. The SE L trim starts at £31,250 and adds larger wheels, dynamic indicators, plusher interior upholstery, and extra tech. The fully equipped Sportline trim is priced at £32,255. The most expensive version, the Sportline Estate with the mild-hybrid petrol engine, is priced at £35,352.

The new Octavia stands out with its distinct design, featuring angular LED headlights and a bold crease in the front bumper. Inside, a new 13.0-inch infotainment touchscreen has been added as an optional extra. Skoda has integrated ChatGPT artificial intelligence into the voice assistant software, promising enhanced capabilities.

The Octavia also offers improvements in charging devices. The ‘Phone Box’ provides up to 15W wireless charging with cooling to prevent overheating. The USB-C connections now deliver 45W, triple what they provided in the previous model. However, the physical controls introduced in other Skoda models for various functions have not been included in the new Octavia, meaning adjustments must be made through the touchscreen.

Skoda has focused on sustainability in the new Octavia, using coffee husks to tan leather seats and recycled fibers for cloth seats. The ice scraper and optional umbrella have also been made from more sustainable materials.

Under the hood, the Octavia has been tweaked for efficiency. The entry-level 1.5-litre powerplant’s turbocharger has been reworked to improve economy. The 1.5-litre engine is available with 114bhp or 148bhp, paired with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The 148bhp version can also be equipped with a mild-hybrid system for improved fuel efficiency. The range-topping vRS model features a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine with 261bhp and 273lb ft of torque, paired with a seven-speed auto gearbox.

Skoda has announced that the Octavia 4×4 will not be available at launch but will return in 2025, using a detuned version of the vRS engine.

Overall, the new Skoda Octavia offers a competitive package with its updated design, upgraded technology, and focus on sustainability. It provides customers with a range of options to suit their preferences and needs. With its affordable pricing and efficient engines, the Octavia presents a strong contender in the family car segment.
