OpenAI Enhances ChatGPT with File Import Capability from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive

OpenAI has announced a new update to its large language model chatbot, ChatGPT, that allows users to import files directly from external cloud drives like Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive. This feature is available to paying subscribers of ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise, and can be accessed by clicking the paper clip icon next to the text entry bar in the ChatGPT interface.

By granting access from their Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive accounts, users can import a variety of file types such as spreadsheets, presentations, and documents into ChatGPT. OpenAI has also enhanced the interface to provide a full-screen view and interactive interface for spreadsheet files. Users can make changes to the spreadsheet in real time using the underlying AI model and download a copy of the edited file from the ChatGPT interface.

This update is particularly beneficial for users who rely on ChatGPT for document work, as it saves time and offers more options for customization. The ability to customize and interact with charts, such as bar, line, pie, and scatter plots, within the conversation is another noteworthy feature. Users can hover over chart elements, ask additional questions, select colors, and download the charts for use in presentations or documents.

OpenAI prioritizes user privacy and assures that they do not train on data from ChatGPT Team and Enterprise customers. ChatGPT Plus users also have the option to opt out of training through their Data Controls in the settings menu.

Overall, this update enhances the functionality and versatility of ChatGPT, providing users with more convenience and flexibility in their document work. It aligns with OpenAI’s mission to continually improve its models and cater to the evolving needs of its users.
