OpenAI’s ChatGPT Chatbot Back Online After Outage: Users Can Now Access the AI-driven Chatbot

ChatGPT, the popular chatbot developed by OpenAI, is back online after a recent period of unavailability for certain users. The power outage that caused the disruption was reported to the authorities around one o’clock in the afternoon.

During testing, ChatGPT performed flawlessly on both desktop and mobile applications. However, some users reported being unable to access the ChatGPT website and generate responses. These issues were reported earlier today. Desktop users encountered a red warning message stating “Internal Server Error,” preventing them from inputting prompts. Similar issues were observed when testing the chatbot on an iPhone.

Downdetector, a website that monitors online service status, reported that the outage started around one o’clock in the afternoon according to Indian Standard Time (IST). OpenAI’s status page acknowledged the problem and stated that the company was actively investigating the incident to determine its cause.

OpenAI’s help page mentioned that they have identified the underlying cause of the issue and are currently working on a fix. They also assured users that the application programming interface (API) is operating normally, indicating that third-party services relying on OpenAI’s technology should function without interruption.

The service interruption led to a significant number of users expressing their opinions, ranging from frustration to sharing memes. ChatGPT, an AI-driven chatbot, gained immense popularity since its launch in late 2022, amassing over 100 million users in just two months.

Interestingly, this is not the first time ChatGPT has faced an outage this year. On February 14th, another disruption occurred globally, affecting the chatbot’s availability. The power outage lasted from 8:00 p.m. until approximately 10:30 p.m. IST.

In response to these incidents, AMD, a leading technology company, announced the development of new AI chips to compete with NVIDIA’s offerings. This highlights the increasing importance and reliance on AI technology in various industries.

Overall, while the recent outages may have caused inconvenience for ChatGPT users, OpenAI is actively working to resolve the issues and ensure smooth operation. The popularity and widespread use of ChatGPT demonstrate the growing demand for AI-driven chatbots and their potential in revolutionizing various sectors of the digital landscape.
