Peugeot e-5008: A Spacious and Classy Electric SUV for Family Buyers

Peugeot has entered the market of seven-seat electric cars with its new e-5008 model. The e-5008 is based on Peugeot’s parent company Stellantis’s new STLA Medium platform and comes with a nickel-manganese-cobalt battery of either 73kWh or 96kWh in capacity. The bigger battery version, expected to arrive in early 2025, will offer a WLTP range of up to 410 miles. The e-5008 also boasts impressive charging speeds, maxing out at 160kW, which can provide 62 miles of range in 10 minutes or 20-80% in just 30 minutes.

In terms of design and styling, the e-5008 may not be the prettiest of Peugeot’s line-up, but it offers a good balance of proportions and modernity. Its spacious and versatile interior, along with its seven-seat layout, make it a practical choice for families. The boot space is generous, offering 748 liters in five-seat mode, and the middle row can fold and slide to create an extended flat load area. Passengers will also find comfort in the spacious middle row, although the third row may be a bit sparse in terms of amenities.

When it comes to engines and performance, the e-5008 delivers a smooth and well-judged driving experience. The 211bhp single-motor version offers a petrol-like power delivery and ample response. Drivers can control the regenerative braking via paddles on the wheel, allowing for easy adjustment. The handling of the e-5008 is confident and well-damped, making it suitable for everyday use.

In terms of running costs, the e-5008 is more affordable than its electric seven-seat rivals. Peugeot also offers competitive monthly PCP finance deals and an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty for its EVs. Standard features include alloy wheels, a reversing camera, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, and a 21-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Overall, the Peugeot e-5008 is a spacious, well-equipped, and classy option for family EV buyers. While it may not have the sporty appeal of some electric models, it excels in practicality and comfort. Its range of battery options and fast charging speeds make it a competitive choice in the market of seven-seat electric cars.
