“Peugeot Introduces Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain to New 3008 SUV”

Peugeot Adds Plug-In Hybrid Option to 3008 SUV Range

Peugeot has expanded its range of powertrain options for the popular 3008 SUV by introducing a plug-in hybrid variant. This new addition combines an updated version of the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with a 123bhp electric motor integrated into a seven-speed automatic gearbox. Together, they produce an output of 192bhp and 258lb ft of torque.

Performance-wise, the 3008 PHEV can go from 0-62mph in just 7.8 seconds, making it quicker than the 134bhp mild-hybrid petrol 3008 (10.2 seconds) and the single-motor electric e-3008 (8.8 seconds). One of the key features of this plug-in hybrid model is its electric-only range of 53 miles, thanks to a 21kWh battery. Additionally, the 3008 PHEV can be charged at speeds of up to 3.7kW, with an optional upgrade to 7.4kW available for an extra £400.

It’s worth noting that the 3008 PHEV is slightly heavier than its mild hybrid counterpart, weighing in at 1905kg, which is an increase of 332kg. However, Peugeot has designed the powertrain to prioritize electric power usage whenever possible, even allowing for electric-only speeds of up to 83mph.

In terms of emissions, the 3008 PHEV boasts an impressive figure of just 19g/km of CO2, which places it in the 8% benefit-in-kind tax bracket. The luggage capacity of the plug-in hybrid model remains the same as the mild hybrid variant, at 588 liters.

As for pricing, the 3008 PHEV starts from £40,650, with deliveries set to begin early next year. Peugeot is also offering the same powertrain in the larger Peugeot 5008 SUV, which is priced from £43,295. The electric-only range for the 5008 is slightly reduced to 48 miles, resulting in CO2 emissions of 23g/km, still placing it in the 8% BIK tax bracket.

This new plug-in hybrid option from Peugeot provides customers with a more environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient choice within the 3008 range. With its impressive electric range and low CO2 emissions, it offers a compelling alternative to traditional petrol or diesel engines.

The introduction of the plug-in hybrid variant aligns with the growing trend towards electrification in the automotive industry. As countries around the world implement stricter emissions regulations, automakers are investing heavily in hybrid and electric technologies to meet these requirements and provide greener alternatives for consumers.

According to recent studies, the global market for plug-in hybrid vehicles is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. Factors such as government incentives, increased charging infrastructure, and the development of more affordable models are driving the demand for these vehicles. In fact, a report by Bloomberg New Energy Finance predicts that plug-in hybrids will account for over 30% of new car sales by 2040.

The availability of plug-in hybrid options like the Peugeot 3008 PHEV provides consumers with a practical and accessible choice for reducing their carbon footprint without sacrificing convenience or range. With the ability to drive on electric power alone for a substantial distance, these vehicles offer the best of both worlds by combining the benefits of electric and internal combustion engines.

In conclusion, Peugeot’s addition of a plug-in hybrid variant to the 3008 SUV range offers customers a more eco-friendly and efficient choice. With its impressive electric range, low emissions, and competitive pricing, the 3008 PHEV is poised to attract buyers looking for a greener and more sustainable option. As the demand for plug-in hybrid vehicles continues to grow, Peugeot is positioning itself as a leader in the electrification of the automotive industry.
