Polestar, the Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled a stunning new two-seat roadster concept called the Concept BST. The car was showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and is a track-honed version of the upcoming Polestar 6 sports car. With its removable roof, vented bonnet, front splitter, large rear wing, beefed-up wheel arches, and wider track, the Concept BST is designed for performance enthusiasts.
This new concept is the second Polestar model to carry the BST branding, following the limited-edition 2 BST Edition 270. The previous model featured a lower ride height, stiffer springs, and adjustable dampers. The Concept BST retains the same bonded aluminum unibody platform as the Polestar 6, which provides a lightweight yet rigid structure.
Although Polestar has not officially released powertrain details for the Concept BST, it is expected to feature the same dual-motor, four-wheel-drive system found in the Polestar 6 and upcoming Polestar 5 saloon. This system delivers an impressive 875bhp and 663lb ft of torque. Additionally, the car’s 800V architecture enables fast-charging capability, ensuring convenient charging for owners.
While there is no confirmation of production plans for the Concept BST, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath hinted at the possibility. He described the car as “a demonstration of how we could apply the BST formula to our lineup in the future.” This suggests that Polestar may consider producing a limited number of roadster models based on this concept.
In addition to the Concept BST, Polestar also showcased the production version of the Polestar 6 roadster at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. All 500 examples of the roadster have already sold out, highlighting the strong demand for Polestar’s electric vehicles.
Polestar’s commitment to electric mobility is evident in their lineup of vehicles. The company’s focus on high-performance electric vehicles aligns with the growing consumer demand for sustainable transportation options. As the automotive industry increasingly transitions towards electric powertrains, Polestar is well-positioned to cater to the needs of performance enthusiasts who desire exhilarating driving experiences without compromising on environmental responsibility.
Overall, the unveiling of the Concept BST and the success of the Polestar 6 roadster reflect Polestar’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology and design. With their innovative approach and commitment to sustainability, Polestar is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.
