Ram 1500 RHO Global Operations Officer Discusses Potential for Electrified Performance Trucks

Ram Trucks Sees Electrification as the Future for Performance Trucks

At the media reveal of the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO, Ram Trucks’ Global Operations Officer Bob Broderdorf expressed the brand’s belief in the potential of electrification for future performance trucks. While he didn’t confirm the development of a specific performance-focused electric vehicle (EV) or range-extended EV, he made it clear that Ram Trucks is not just giving empty statements about considering future products.

Broderdorf acknowledged that if Ram were to introduce an electrified performance truck, it might take some time. The brand’s focus is currently on bringing the REV full-electric truck and the Ramcharger range-extended EV into production. These are the more mainstream, volume products that need to establish Ram’s presence in the electric vehicle market.

The REV and the Ramcharger have impressive electric powertrains that could easily be adapted for sporty trucks. The REV boasts a dual-motor setup with 654 horsepower, 620 pound-feet of torque, and a claimed 0 to 60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. The Ramcharger is similar in power with 663 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque, as well as the same 0 to 60 time as the REV. With such capable powertrains already in their lineup, Ram Trucks would primarily need to tweak the chassis for either street or off-road performance.

However, it’s important to note that Ram Trucks is still in the process of bringing its regular EVs to market. Therefore, it’s understandable that concrete plans for performance EVs are not yet in place. Nevertheless, the brand’s optimism about the concept is evident, and this is certainly exciting news for fans of electric trucks.

In conclusion, while Ram Trucks has not announced specific plans for a performance-focused electric truck, the brand recognizes the potential of electrification in the future of performance trucks. With the upcoming launch of their REV full-electric truck and Ramcharger range-extended EV, Ram Trucks is laying the foundation for further advancements in electric performance vehicles. Customers can look forward to the possibility of electrified sporty trucks with impressive power and performance characteristics.
