Raspberry Pi 5 to Utilize Hailo’s AI Processors
Hailo, the creator of edge artificial intelligence (AI) processors, has announced a partnership with Raspberry Pi to incorporate its AI accelerators into the Raspberry Pi 5. This collaboration aims to empower both professional engineers and creative makers to enhance their projects and solutions in areas such as home automation, security, and robotics with advanced AI capabilities.
According to Hailo CEO Orr Danon, this partnership with the leading single-board computer provider will inspire a new era of computing, leveraging Hailo’s high-performance AI processing capacity. The Raspberry Pi AI Kit, specifically designed for the latest Raspberry Pi 5, includes the Raspberry Pi M.2 HAT+ and the Hailo-8L M.2 AI acceleration module. The Hailo-8L module offers up to 13 tera-operations per second (TOPS) of inferencing performance, outperforming other edge processors currently available.
Notably, Hailo’s processors are already being used by over 300 customers worldwide and are considered both commercial and industrial grade. This scalability from prototype to mass production makes them an attractive AI solution. Eben Upton, Raspberry Pi CEO, highlighted that Hailo’s combination of high compute power and low power consumption makes it an appealing option for professionals and enthusiasts alike.
To support the growing community of Hailo developers and Raspberry Pi users, Hailo is launching an online developer community. This platform will provide tutorials, FAQs, and other resources to foster innovation among creators and developers. Members will have access to a team of Hailo experts and the opportunity to connect with each other, sharing code, experiences, resources, knowledge, and more.
Hailo CEO Orr Danon believes that the introduction of Raspberry Pi’s AI-enabled board will pave the way for new paths of innovation. With this collaboration, Hailo aims to support makers as they experiment and leverage its AI capabilities.
The Raspberry Pi AI Kit will be showcased at Embedded World China from June 12-14 and at Maker Faire Hannover from August 17-18. This demonstration will give visitors a firsthand look at the capabilities of the Raspberry Pi 5 and Hailo’s AI processors.
In conclusion, the partnership between Hailo and Raspberry Pi demonstrates the increasing maturity of Hailo’s AI accelerators and their ability to cater to a larger audience. By integrating Hailo’s processors into the Raspberry Pi 5, both companies are enabling developers and enthusiasts to embrace AI in their projects more easily and cost-effectively. With the introduction of the online developer community, Hailo is fostering a collaborative environment for AI enthusiasts to share their experiences and drive innovative solutions forward.
