Rimac, known for its impressive electric vehicles (EVs), has unveiled its latest creation, the Nevera R, at Monterey Car Week. Building upon the already exceptional Nevera model, the Nevera R boasts a more powerful quad-motor powertrain, making it an even more formidable machine.
With an increase in horsepower from 1,914 to 2,107, the Nevera R accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in a mind-boggling 1.74 seconds. In fact, it now completes the quarter-mile sprint in just 8.23 seconds, nearly 0.4 seconds faster than its predecessor. The top speed of this monstrous EV reaches an impressive 256 mph.
To support this increased power, Rimac has introduced a new generation of battery pack for the Nevera R. Although specific details regarding the changes remain undisclosed, the overall capacity has been slightly reduced from 120 kWh to 108 kWh. This adjustment likely helps to optimize the performance and handling of the vehicle.
In addition to the powertrain improvements, the Nevera R features several other enhancements. The torque vectoring for the motors has been retuned, resulting in improved handling and control. Rimac has also upgraded the carbon ceramic brakes and equipped the Nevera R with new Michelin Cup 2 tires. The suspension geometry has been redesigned to provide a more responsive and agile driving experience, incorporating more negative camber. Furthermore, the larger rear wing and diffuser not only contribute to the aerodynamics but also give the Nevera R a distinct and striking appearance, setting it apart from the regular model.
These upgrades translate into impressive performance on the track. The Nevera R has shaved 3.8 seconds off the regular Nevera’s lap time at the Nardo Handling Track, showcasing its enhanced agility and cornering capabilities. With such remarkable performance, it’s only a matter of time before the Nevera R attempts to conquer the Nürburgring, a world-renowned racing circuit known for pushing vehicles to their limits.
Although pricing details have not yet been announced, it is safe to assume that the Nevera R will be in the seven-figure range, making it an exclusive and sought-after luxury vehicle. To maintain its exclusivity, Rimac plans to produce only 40 units of the Nevera R, with a significant number likely to be sold during the reveal itself.
